sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
Our ped recommended we have DS sleep in his infant carrier until his RSV clears up bc the elevation will help him better. I have the crib wedge but they said it is not elevated enough.
DH says we are creating a monster now bc DS is getting so use to sleeping in our room in the carseat (day 5 tonight). Do you think I am doing the right thing?

Re: sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
My opinion is do what you need to do until the RSV goes away.
My DD had RSV when she was 2 weeks old and slept on me, on DH or in our bed until she was breathing better.
My personal opinion is that when our DC are sick, normal sleeping rules go out the window until they are all better.
You can deal with any sleep regression after your DS has recovered.

Re: sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
If it makes him feel better because of the elevation, I think its definitely ok. DD got a cold when she was a few months old and was very congested and the ped told us to keep her in the bouncer to keep her somewhat elevated. We did it for weeks and it was fine.
When she was sick recently (she's 1 now) I kept her in the bed with us because she was miserable, congested and restless. I was afraid that I was 'spoiling' her and she would get used to it but once she was better she went right back to her crib without a fight. When they're sick, all 'rules' go out the window (at least for me they do )

Re: sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
jack just got over RSV and he slept in the crib - no wedge. it didnt even occur to me to put him in the infant carrier or wedge the crib.
he did spend the first night in the swing but he was so uncomfortable, we moved him back to the crib.
honestly, we had no problems and the RSV cleared up really quickly - totally better within 7 days.
i hope he feels better soon!!!

Thanks ladies! I didn't think I would spoil him bc it is just to make him more comfortable....I just want the RSV gone so we can get our baby back!

Re: sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
i did that as well and then had them sleeping in their bouncies for 2 months after that. I'm sorry he has RSV but if you're on day 5 should be over soon. Be aware that for the next 18 months he can be more susceptible to respiratory infections so try to keep him away from LO's who are coughing and sneezing

Re: sick baby sleeping in infant carrier
DS has a cold, and if he fit in the carrier he'd be sleeping in there, right now he's napping in the stroller. he wont sleep there at night, because I can't watch him.
He's crazy active and I know he'll flip it over or something.
