Sick toddler question...
Yeah, I know Lily is 22 months old...but she's never been sick, so I'm at a loss!
She was in a funky mood tonight...clinging to Tom, refusing to eat, whining a lot. She felt a little warm, so we took her fever and it was about 99 (in the ear - she wouldn't let us take it anywhere else). We gave her some Tylenol and put her to bed. She's up there sleeping now, but she's just not acting like herself.
I know she doesn't have a high fever, and she's acting a little differently, but not as if she's really sick.
I was planning on waiting to see how she feels in the morning....but if she still feels warm, should I bring her to the doctor? Is there even anything they can do for her there?
I feel so silly even asking this...I should know by know!

Re: Sick toddler question...
when DD has a low fever its usually a cold and ear infection. Id see how she is in the am. go with your instinct...if shes not herself it cant hurt to let the dr take a look. DD also gets very clingy as you mentioned when shes sick. I hope she feels better!! keep us posted,

Re: Sick toddler question...
She probably just has some kind of bug. DS gets very clingy and grouchy when he's sick, and it's understandable. I don't think I'm myself when I'm sick either.
Check in with your doctor in the AM if you are worried, but I know mine doesn't get concerned about fevers until they are around 102 or are accompanied by other problems such as cough, extreme crankiness, etc.
Tonight, just check on her to see if she feels warm and give her tylenol as needed.

Re: Sick toddler question...
Could be teething....Sounds like it...any new teeth?
Im a bit lax on calling the Ped, so I wouldnt call no, unless that type of behavior went on for a while and or an increased fever.
But if its just a cold/virus, there is nothing they can do for you anyway ya know?
Hugs and get well wishes to Lily!!!!!

Re: Sick toddler question...
You are so lucky that she has never been sick! That is wonderful.
So your gut is probably right Lori...if you think she is sick then she probably is. I would take her temp again in the morning and call the ped.
Could be ears, Bella is not herself when her ears are bothering her.
HUGS TO LILY!

Re: Sick toddler question...
OMG Lori our dds are so alike!! The one time Ale seemed out of sorts, I took her to the ped. I totally regretted it because all the other kids on the sick side were VERY sick. So I would wait, see how she is in the a.m. Based on that, call your ped. or not. I wouldn't go in unless s/he tells you to, KWIM?
for Lovely Lily!!

Re: Sick toddler question...
I just spoke to my mom (a pediatric nurse - how lucky am I?) and she thinks it could be 2 year molars, which totally makes sense. She was acting whiny - but not totally sick, so I have to agree with her.
Thanks!!
