SIL VENT!

OK - my DH's sister is nice, etc...but she is a little inconsiderate at times and she thinks that she is the only person that has things going on in her life.

Anyway, DH's and her father passed away in September and their mother (my MIL) is going away for Christmas to be with their other sibling. So I invited my SIL over to our house (as always) to have Christmas with DH, me and my family.

Well, her inlaws are going to be here (who also came over last year) and she told me that she thinks they will stay home by themselves. Then, two weeks ago, she tells me maybe they will come to our house...fine...

So I want to do my shopping for food, etc...and I sent her an email yesterday explaining that I wanted to get my thoughts together and are they coming...I have YET to hear from her...and she has a blackberry and reads the emails as soon as she gets them.

I am not emailing again and I am a little annoyed that she hasn't gotten back to me, even with a - "we aren't sure, we will let you know."

Just another example - I had Thanksgiving at my house, also, this year and everyone asked what they could bring. So I said "wine and dessert" because I have the food covered....well, they all show up with bottles upon bottles of red wine...then they ask me for a glass of white - ***?!?!?

Ok vent over.

I definitely know the stresses of a PITA SIL, I happen to have one myself.

Did you know that she is the first person to EVER have a baby?

AND the had the worst pregnancy in the history of pregnancies!

She also has world's best looking baby.

Basically what I am trying to say is that you will never change her, so you must learn to find a way to deal with her. I find that completely ignoring her works best for me. Going on with your life the way it was before she came along, and for Christmas, you'll probably make a little extra anyway, so I am sure it will be fine.

Oh, and buy some white wine!!!! Chat Icon

Thanks and that is exactly what I am going to do - just go along and if they come, they come...but I guess I look at it like I am always the one to have the holidays and always the one to get everyone together for everything, so it aggravates me that a simple email can't be sent saying that she will just let me know. Since it's my time being spent at the stores buying and lugging everything home.

I actually just bought about 12 bottles of red and I am requesting everyone bring wine again - let's see what happens! haha
