silly diaper question

DD is 7 weeks today and on Monday weighted 8 1/2 pounds. She is still in newborn diapers. I was thinking of going up to size one because I am starting to see the imprint of the diaper on her leg.

I feel silly for asking, Just wondering when you know to switch? the newborn diapers are good up until 10 lbs...

I said it was a silly question...thanks!

Re: silly diaper question

I always think of the pounds suggested for diaper size as just loose guidelines. Every baby has different proportions so diapers will fit differently. If you aren't comfortable with the way they are fitting then it's time to go up a size.

Re: silly diaper question

ds has never gone by the weight guideline... whenever they started leaving imprints i went up a size.... i just figure i wouldnt want tight undies that left imprints so why should the diaper do that

Re: silly diaper question

I would switch her to size ones and if there is no leakage I would stick with them.

I never used NB for my dd who was born at 8lbs 10oz.

Re: silly diaper question

It's a guessing game. DD has always gone exactly by the guidelines so I've been lucky.

Buy size 1 and see if it works. They won't go to waste since she will eventually size up anyway.

Re: silly diaper question

I usually had to move DS up before he hit the weight limit of the smaller size. I learned to move him up around the time he was the weight on the low end of the range in the next size. He would start leaking poop if the diapers were too small. Chat Icon

Re: silly diaper question

My DD was out of NB diapers by that weight. They were too snug. I have found with Pampers my DD grew out of each size a few lbs. before the weight limit. I always knew when to switch her because she would basically blow out the diaper. Just as an FYI........if you use Pampers I found that the "in-between" sizes fit more comfortably and lasted longer for DD. She went from NB to size 1-2, then 2-3, then 4. They are hard to find in the store but you can get them on Diapers.com. Chat Icon
