Re: Silly Driveway question
My neighbors just had one done last week, but they put in pavers. Not sure about blacktop.

Re: Silly Driveway question
It should be ok. Call your installer now before it gets too cold.

Re: Silly Driveway question
I would wait.
When we did our old house (down the block from you ), they ripped up the old cement, laid gravel but it needed to settle for at least two weeks and then came back to blacktop it.
The weather is supposed to turn this weekend. By the time you book someone and then their availability and then waiting for the gravel to settle, I think it would be too cold.

Re: Silly Driveway question
I would wait until springtime, I think its best when there are no extremes in temperatures -and its supposed to get really cold this weekend.

Re: Silly Driveway question
Well, my DH thinks that if we waited until November, we may as well wait until Spring instead of putting in a new driveway and having the new driveway endure its first winter right away. I guess we're just justifying our decision, though.

Re: Silly Driveway question
You can. My mason is going to do my stoop next week most likely. He said December is ok for brick, but if you are doing cement and it drops below freezing he can't. Are you doing blacktop, cement or brick?

Re: Silly Driveway question
I would wait, so the driveway doesn't sink into the ground any during the winter, or get torn up due to the weather.

I think DH wants brick & blacktop. He has some plan he keeps changing around...he may be done deciding by spring.
