Silly estimate question
If you know someone's who DH does work that you're in need of like landscaping, plumber, contractor, etc... would you ask the friend for the DH's work number so you can call to schedule an estimate or would you just tell your friend to have him call you?
I know it's a silly question. DH is a contractor. I find a lot of times people I haven't talked to in years message me on FB or other class moms give me their # and tell me to give to DH and call regarding work done.

Re: Silly estimate question
I would call the guy myself.
I've given people my bil's number for tents and stuff, IMO,,it's the same thing.

Re: Silly estimate question
I'd call myself.
My best friend is a vet tech at the animal hospital where we bring our kitties...even though she and I text 24/7, I still call the office during business hours to schedule an appointment.

Re: Silly estimate question
DH has his own business. I think it's more appropriate to call yourself.
It shows genuine interest.
I know DH has been put into some awkward situations over the years when he was told to just call someone.
It also helps to ensure they do the work you are looking for when you can speak to the contractor yourself.

That's DH too, but he is busy with finishing a basement now, then has a kitchen to work on that's a few weeks and then a bathroom that's a couple of weeks. I know he's booked till June/July now and going on estimates still. I don't tell people bc half the time they want it done ASAP, but haven't picked anything out and that could take a while. I guess if he wasn't busy he'd call, but most people don't know what they want yet. Funny, the guy from HS said he'd call and then messaged me he's sorry he didn't get a chance to call yet. I told him not to worry and call whenever he's ready. If DH doesn't answer then leave a message with all your info so he can get back to him.

Re: Silly estimate question
I only pass his info on and don't give details, because honestly, it's not my place.
I hear about it, but am not privy to the day to day dealings of the business, KWIM?
But I know what you describe is commonplace with some customers.

I do the same thing. I don't give any details about where he is with work. My only issue with being married to a contractor is him having no time to work on my house!
I hear from so many how talented he is and know his work, but I'm last on the list and my list for the house keeps growing. LOL

Yup. We just got the permit to start our reno. I know it will take a very long time before it's all said and done.
