Silly Question - but what do contractions feel like?
I never had them with Jack so I have no clue.
Right now, I can't really stand - it's on the right side of my belly - where the baby is. Almost feels like a pulling feeling or like a really sore muscle - but it hurts ALOT. The pain isn't coming and going - it's just there.
All I wanted to do today was clean my damn floors and something is always getting in the way!
ETS: I should add that it feels like someone is stabbing me in the vagina with a knife - and kind of cutting me - when I first stand up. It takes me a few seconds before I can actually walk and the pain goes away.

Re: Silly Question - but what do contractions feel like?
For me, they started out as what felt like REALLY bad period cramping. The pain came and went though, so not sure if what you are having are contractions.

Re: Silly Question - but what do contractions feel like?
i have to giggle...i always thought - is that a contraction, is this a contraction and then i had one.....NO MORE ASKING - i KNEW!!!!!
the pain stopped me in my tracks and i wanted to curl up in a ball on the floor and cry. a few minutes later i was fine.
definitely like menstrual cramps amped up to about an 11.

As much as I want this baby here now, I am in no way ready for him just yet. I still have so much to do!

I was going to say the same thing! I had braxton hicks and preterm labor/occassional contractions but when the real ones hit I had no doubt!

If you have to ask if this is a contraction, it probably isn't. You will know when you are having contractions.

I agree with this...I had that stabbing feeling too from 30 weeks on with DD. I think the way the baby is laying is putting pressure on that one area and that is why you feel sore and it hurts.

Contraction will come and go, but that pain in the vag that you mentioned I remember it well!! I started to get that pain a few days before I went into labor!

That feeling of not being able to walk right away and like someone was stabbing your vagina... totally normal. I had that. It's like after sitting for a bit, you get up and you have that feeling like you just got off a horse right? Not contractions. Just another pregnancy annoyance.

Re: Silly Question - but what do contractions feel like?
For me, early contractions felt like a twisting in a lower belly. It was right underneath my stomach and felt like a towel that was being twisted--you know like when you ring water out of a towel? that's exactly what it felt like for hours. i can't describe what they felt like when it got bad- then it was just pain and i never took the time to try to put into words how it felt--it just hurt!

As much as I want this baby here now, I am in no way ready for him just yet. I still have so much to do!
This statement alone guarantees you're having him today.
If the pain is constant, it's likely not contractions. As for the stabbing in the vag feeling? I felt that for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy with Eliza. I swear it felt like Freddy Krueger is trying to escape.....

YES! That's exactly what it feels like.
The pain in my stomach area has gone away so hopefully this is not happening anytime soon, although it did motivate me to write out Jack's schedule - and what he eats (or shall I say doesn't eat) on a daily basis.
