Silly swing question

I am going to buy Anthony a swing today and I was looking at them online and I think I am set on the GRACO lovin hugs, but I was also looking at the fisher price aquarium swing because it also moves side to side. What are any advantages to having it swing both ways? Are there any?

Re: Silly swing question

I used the fisherprice aquarium one for dd.. and loved it. I loved the option of changing the way it swung, either side to side or front and back.. depended on my dds mood. There were days she wanted to swing side to side which was great when she passed out. And other times where it went front to back which Im guessing to her felt like more of a fun ride, b/c the air blew through her hair.

There were times I found she would get in swing and flip out but once i changed the swing motion to other one she was happy as a clam.

I was recommended this swing by my sisters friends b/c their kids LOVED it.. and so did my dd. We used it for 11 months, and packed it away for baby #2.. taking out right before he/she comes so i have it ready for them.

Re: Silly swing question

This doesn't really answer your question but I wanted to put my two cents in...DD tried 4 swings including the Rainforest and the one that she LOVES, I mean smile from ear to ear from the moment she sat in it is the Fisher Price Cradle Swing. It goes from side to side and the seat is a Papasan seat and is sooo cozy!! BRU has it on sale for $99 also!!

For your original question, I think it is just a different movement for the baby, definitely not a necessity but mixes things up a bit!

Re: Silly swing question

I have the FP Papasan swing. It goes both ways. I did side to side when DD was just hanging out..and front to back when I wanted her to doze..it worked!

Also, just FYI, the papasan swing plugs in, which was a huge help. I never had to worry about batteries. I'm not sure if they all do, but I have the starlight one.

Mine was batteries.. yeah it stunk to have to worry about batteries but they did seem to last awhile.. bonus about batteries was i could take the swing outside on nice days and not have to worry about a plug.

I had to order online also at time. Its the old model, the rainforest took over for it in stores. It didnt take long to get, i think only took a couple of days.

Re: Silly swing question

Both DC liked the side-to-side motion a lot. Also, I liked the fact that the support arms are nowhere near the swing, so it's impossible for DC to get their arm stuck between the swing and the legs.

Re: Silly swing question

My old swing didn't go both ways and I didn't think it mattered BUT we now have the FP swing and it does go both ways. Sometimes he will be good swinging one way and other times he doesn't like that way but when we turn him he's fine. More options are always better.
