Beside taking pre-natals, are you watching what you eat? Eating healthier? Do you think it's important to start eating healthier while ttc or wait until you become pg?

I think it probably helps to be eating healthier while trying; it makes for a better enviornment. But, I'm new to all of this so I might just be making stuff up right now Chat Icon

yes, i cut back on decaf. coffee, stopped all caf. coffee, drink more water and green tea and wish I ate less sugar! The rest of my diet is typically full of health foods, fruits and veggies (I'm try to be a good vegetarian)!

Will cutting back on caffine help? I don't drink tons but I need my coffee in the morning.

Yes, especially since we are having IF issues. I'm on Metformin to help with my insulin levels. I've started to eat more fruit (I am usually not a fruit eater) and I've cut out all sugar.

Re: Since you have decided to TTC, Have you changed your diet?

Anything you can do BEFORE you TTC, while TTC and during a pregnancy can benefit both you, your unborn child and your children in the future on a gazillion levels.

I started working out again while TTC and even with IF issues. Ill also be honest with you, after having been heavy, I am terrified to put back any kind of weight at all regardless of if it is pregnancy related or not. It is something I am going to have to deal with, but I stand a better chance of losing weight after pregnancy if I eat right and exercise DURING a pregnancy.

Unless I am deemed high-risk by my doctor and told not to exercise, I will try my best to do at least the minimal that my body can withstand without causing harm to an unborn child.

Well, not technically TTC until June, but yes I have stopped drinking coffee, have upped vitamin supplement intake (Fish Oil, folic acid, B6 and B12), but nothing else really. I have actually eaten pretty healthfully for the past 5 years...

I started going to the gym while TTC...right now I am doing 1/2 an hour of cardio during lunch everyday. Once I get into the swing of things I am going to add weights to it. I'm also trying to watch what I eat...more like portion control.

I am watching what I eat more now. I am a on the plus size side so I want to lose some extra weight so that I wont put myself and the baby in a potential heath risk during pregnancy.

Re: Since you have decided to TTC, Have you changed your diet?

There have been studies that show a correlation between pre-pregnancy obesity in women and neural tube defects as well as heart ailments in babies. Nutritional deficits in the mother can lead to such problems. Perhaps that is why pre-natals are prescribed to us WITH the folic acid to prevent such problems.

That scared me enough to losing weight (along with other health issues way before I was even married). I know that plenty over women who are overweight have healthy children, but being as healthy as I can right now, more than ever is really important to me.

I gave up diet soda, or any kind of soda, and no artifical sweetners.

Re: Since you have decided to TTC, Have you changed your diet?

I have always been pretty good with what I eat with the exception of some candy splurges. I don't drink coffee or alcohol often. I stopped drinking soda about 8 weeks ago & drink mostly all water.

I have read on a million websites that you should have a healthy diet prior TTC & also start an excercise plan. I am doing all right now!

Not too much. I'm trying to eat more fruits and veggies and I'm controlling my portions better. I never really drank any alcohol, caffiene or soda. My downfall is sweets/chocolate, though. I started taking a multivitamin and exercising at the beggining of the year.

Re: Since you have decided to TTC, Have you changed your diet?

The biggest change I've made is to add granola to my yogurt in the morning. DH & I have been eating fairly heathly for a while, so there isn't much to change (although I could probably eat more fruit and less chocolate).

I think eating healthfully and exercising is pretty much common sense for a healthy lifestyle, TTC or not!

I am on Metformon also so I was forced to eat healthier. I am on a modified South Beach. In a way it's a good thing because I get more protein, fruits and veggies now. Before I ate a lot of pasta.

I cut out caffeine and I am trying to eat healthier - less red meat, fewer sweets. I have been working out about 4 times a week for a year now. I am trying to work out at least 5 times but it's not easy.

I am also taking prenatals as well as a B-6 supplement.

The doctors put me on a special diet because of my illness. However, I didn't stop my addiction to Diet Pepsi until I got my BFP. Chat Icon

I am drinking my first cup of decaf tea right now Chat Icon It'll take some getting used to, I suppose.

Not diet but I'm sick and the doctor won't give me antibiotics b/c I'm CD 23 and it's too early to tell if I'm preggo yet. That was a big reality check Chat Icon
