Sinus Infection Q
I went to the dr this week and found out I have bronchitis and a sinus infection. I took the antibiotics the dr gave me and I started throwing up soon after from a reaction to them,..the dr switched me to amoxocilin and today is day 1 on that--im assuming the amoxocilin is to stop the bronchitis, but is anything really working against my sinus infection? I never got these b4 and now I have had 2 in the last 6 months..and just now im sitting here and my nose started bleeding! Im assumiing its from the infection?? any1 suffer from these that can over some relief suggestions..
sorry for all the sick posts lately, thank you

Re: Sinus Infection Q
It usually takes a few days for the meds to kick in.
Drink plenty of water, when I don't I can feel a build up of mucus.
Avoid dairy. Milk builds up the mucus in your system and that can lead to more infections. I switched to soy milk about three years ago and it helped tremenduously.
Vitamin C and B-12 taken together act as a natural decongestant.
Plenty of hot showers, tea, and rest.
Feel better

Re: Sinus Infection Q
I used to get these like 10 times a year until I had my sinus surgery.
It will take a few days for the meds to work.
This is what my ENT used to have me take:
Ayr - (saline) - it comes in a spray or gel Helps relieve dry sinus passages due to low humidity, colds, allergies, and irritants. Helps relieve dry nasal passages due to: sinusitis, air pollution, smoke, overuse of decongestant sprays. ayr spray or gel

Re: Sinus Infection Q
Hey Michi,
I ALWAYS get at least 2 sinus infections a year, starting when I was 16... that's a lot of sinus infections!!!
I use saline spray--I guess like the Ayr stuff--but it is called Ocean. It really helps me to loosen things up in there. Also, an expectorant will really help get the yucky stuff out (TMI).
Hot showers, I also use a humidifier with Vicks Inhalant in it. If i have a sinus headache I put hot washcloths on.
The saline spray is a new thing for me--just in the past year or so--and it has made them a lot more bearable and they seem to last a lot shorter time!!!
Feel better--I KNOW how you feel!!

I agree- I have this saline wash stuff and it REALLY helps get all the crap out. Its wierd to do (you have to put this botttle up your nose and squeeze and wait until it comes out your mouth and hteother nostril) but I promise it helps get the gunk out. I hope you feel better soon michi
