Sippy cup
At what age did your child start using a sippy cup?

Re: Sippy cup
I introduced one to him at about 6 months, and for like 2 months, he had no idea what to do with it, he just played with it. He was exclusively BF, so he had no correlation to a bottle either. Eventually he got the hang of it and he would sip water from it. We didn't give him anything besides water in it until he went to whole milk at one year.
I highly recommend this kind, it's the best (no valves, soft spout)! Nuby sippy cup

Re: Sippy cup
I started introducing it to her at 7 months. She knows she can drink from it, because she doesn't have a full grasp of it yet! I only use it for water. I would recommend only using it for water in the beginning because even though they are spill proof some leaks out when they drop them or throw them and IMO water is easier to clean up then juice or formula.

Re: Sippy cup
We have this one and I got 2 of them in the supermarket. I love them because they have textures on the handles and the double handles make it easier for her.
Editted to add they are by Gerber.

We got these also. We give Jesse water in it (he's eight months) and he's starting to get the hang of it.

We used these at first too. We introduced the cup to Kiera when she was about 4-5 months old. We actually put a little formula in at first so that she knew the taste. Once she enjoyed using the cup we put water in and then she mastered it before she was 6 months.

Re: Sippy cup
We started Nate on the Advent sippy cup when he turned 6 months. He'll take a few sips, but mostly plays with it and chews on the spout. It's a PITA to clean. I'm thinking of trying the Gerber one that everyone else posted.

Steph we did the same and Jack would just chew and not drink anything. We switched to Gerber yesterday and he drinks great from them even though he still won't really hold a bottle. He drinks a few ounces of watered down juice every day in the sippy.

Re: Sippy cup
Molly went to a sippy cup full time at exactly 1 year old..before that she hated them. I tried 8 different ones from the time she was 9 months old. She only liked the Gerber and to this day will not use anything but the certain Gerber cups.

Re: Sippy cup
LOL! I have never had luck with those Nuby ones, they always leaked, I threw out a few of them.
My kids both started with them before a year old but like most kids, they dont take to them right away so dont be surprised if it feels like you are just picking it up off the floor all the time. After awhile they love them. Right now Im trying to get the courage to go full time on regular cups with my 3 year old. He does very well but I am spoiled by not having to worry about the spills with the sippy.

Re: Sippy cup
For my girls 1 year old birthday, the "birthday fairy" took their bottles and replaced them w/ sippy cups! lol.
I tried sooner, but they were not interested in any brand.
What worked for me was the cups with the straws.. it was an easier transition from the bottle (sucking) then went to strickly sippy cups.
Dont worry, when they are ready you will know.
Just remember every baby is different.
