When did you give a sippy cup?
Alex is 6.5 months old and I started giving him a sippy cup with a little water in it. He puts it in his mouth but instead of sucking he blows into it. Is it too early?

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
I tried giving it to Nick at about 7 months, but he would just play with it. He only started drinking from it at about 11 months - and only water, not his milk. Oh, and he will only take that NUBY kind.

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
Grace is 6 months and she loves her sippy. We need to hold it for her though after a minute. I bought the NUBY kind also because it has a soft top which should make it an easier transition from the bottle.

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
I gave Claire a sippy cup around 6 months with water/juice in it and she mainly played with it, but it got her used to it. Now at 10 months she drinks her water and juice from a sippy cup and loves it!

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
I started at 5 months. My dr said to try then and keep trying and that they will play with it at first and pour it all over so only use water.
At 8 months he is starting to finally - - kind of - - get the hang of it. It is taking some time but he gets better with practice. He always knew from the beginning to put the spout in his mouth but isn't good at the angle to get the water out.

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
Around 7 months, with one of those two handled gerber cups and he had no interest. Tried again with the soft Nuby at 10 or 11 months and he took right to it. Still using them actually.... Get mine at Walmart for $1.47 a piece!

Re: When did you give a sippy cup?
We starte at about 5 months. The Dr recommended that we use the sippy cup with water in it during her lunch & dinner. She seems to like it, but funny thing, she is almost 11 months old and still won't hold her own bottle, but will hold and drink from her sippy cup.

Thats pretty much what I was gonna say! My son wanted nothing to do with his bottle pretty early so we tried a ton of cups.. I swear by the nuby ones.. they are a silicone top and chewy, instead of that hard plastic! He would also get frustrated at the hard ones cause he couldnt get the fluids out enough.. he loves his food and drink, and doesnt wan to work to have to eat...lol.. From day 1 !!!! :o)
