sitting up vs crawling

I noticed a lot of babies Antonio's age will sit up for 5-10 minutes playing with a toy or watching tv whatever the case.

Antonio knows how to sit up he just won't for longer than 30 seconds. He immediately rolls to his belly to play or watch tv. He throws himself back (banging his head into the wood floor) and stiffens up when I try to put his in a sitting position. I

mentioned this to the doctor and he said not to worry that he probably just wants to crawl around and explore.

Has anyone else's baby done this? Are there any toys to encourage sitting?

Yes - my DS was crawling and STANDING before he would sit for more that a few seconds...

Jacob is the opposite all he does is wanna sit sit sit.. i put him on his belly and he tries to crawl but crys after a few min until i put him back in the sitting position.

How old is Antonio?

We used the boppy and the Learning Drum by Leap Frog to help her sit up. We'd put the boppy a bit just behind her so that if she fell she'd have a cushioned fall, and she liked to sit up with the drum between her legs. It provided a little bit of support and she loved the toy so it was motivational for her to sit up with it.
