Sleep HELP for a 5 month old.
I need some help with my 5 month old dd sleeping. She goes to bed very easy at 8pm each night, however she is up at 12am and 4am for a bottle. She takes 6 ounces each time and goes right back to sleep. I try to just "bink" her but it isn't enough. After getting up to "bink" her 2-3 times I just give her the bottle and she will go back to sleep like a champ.
I know she can sleep longer stretches, because she has just very inconsistently. I went back to work last week and this has become very hard on myself and dh. We just don't know what to do. It seems as though she is grazing during the day in terms of taking a bottle and then saves it up for at night. I have tried getting her to eat more during the day but it does not work. She has started on solids which we thought would help but it hasn't.
One thing I also noticed is she will wake up around 7:45am for the day, but will not eat until around 10am and that bottle is only 3 ounces and then will eat her veggies around lunch time.
Can anyone offer any advice?
Also we share a room with her because we are in a 1 bedroom apartment while we are waiting for our house to be built so I wonder if I have created this because I can hear every peep???

Re: Sleep HELP for a 5 month old.
My DD is 4 1/2 months. One thing that helps us to get her to sleep through the night is giving her a bath at night around 9pm. Even if she has fallen asleep before that time we still make sure she gets it. This gets her up and happy and she is ready for her bottle and goes to bed closer to 10pm.
She still wakes up for the binky twice a night but it is less often that she needs a bottle. It has become part of her nighttime ritual and she is less likely to fall asleep before her bath and last bottle now.
It will probably take trying a few things before you get what works for you. Hope you can get some sleep.

Re: Sleep HELP for a 5 month old.
Try giving her water instead of formula at night - at least for the first wake up. When she realizes she is waking to get nothing but water, she'll stop.

Re: Sleep HELP for a 5 month old.
No advice but I want to let you know you're not alone.
DS is 5 1/2 months and he goes to bed at 7. I do a dreamfeed around 9:30 and then he's up again 4-5 hours later. If I don't feed him at 9:30 he's up between 11-12 and again between 3-4.
We've tried the paci too. He goes to sleep for 20 min and then wake up crying again and will do this over and over until I feed him.
Most of the time he doesn't sleep more than 4 hours but occasionally he will do a 6 hour stretch and once or twice he has gone 8 hours but they are so sporadic.
If you figure out something that works please let me know because I'm back at work as of last week too and I am tired!

my ds is a fussy eater and what i do is to get that last bit of formuial in him i dream feed him. He goes to bed about 630 and sleeps until about 530 so about 9 i go in and dream feed him and that holds him. Can you try feeding her before you go to bed for the night?

DH and I have been going to bed at 8:45 because we are so tired! So that only gives us 45 minutes of her sleeping. On the weekens I will do this though and it helps a little.
Maybe I will try water. I tried to give her 5 ounces last week instead of her normal 6 and she cried and was so worked up by the time I made 2 more ounces that she stayed up for 2 hours instead of going back to bed.
Your 's are much appreciated!!
