Sleeping all day the day after shots?
Logan got his first shots yesterday.
We were good for the first couple of hours, but then he woke up screaming in pain.
His leg was all red and swollen and he wasn't able to calm down for a while. (Some Children's Tylenol and an ice pack finally did the trick.)
He slept from 8-5, woke up, ate, slept again until 9.
Woke up, ate and fell asleep again around 10. Still sleeping now.
Is this normal the day after shots?
TIA.

Re: Sleeping all day the day after shots?
was it his DaTP? My Ped told me that those symptoms might come after that shot. DS was cranky yesterday (he had his as well) but was OK this morning. He slept like a champ though......

What did he get? Eachone is gonna be different. It doesnt sound like hes sleeping that much, is it out of character for him?
I know some of the papers on the immunizations we have list sleepiness as a side effect.

Sounds normal to me. PED told us it's common side effect and even sleeping through feedings-they'll make up for it.
Gianna used to sleep the 2-3 days away after her shots.

Totally normal for my DD. She did the same for her 8 weeks shots...the 4 and 6 month shots was an entirely different story (awake and cranky.)

Thanks everyone!
He slept until 2:00. Ate and played for about 2 hours and been sleeping again since 4:00. I think I'm in for a long night.
