sleeping arrangements at the beginning

Do you think it makes sense to put a bed in the nursery that I can sleep on at the beginning and put the new babies in one crib? I hated the bassinet I had for DS and was disappointed to find out that the top of my pack-n-play only holds 15 pounds.

What did you moms do at the beginning?

Re: sleeping arrangements at the beginning

We had 1 crib in our room and 1 crib in the nursery. We used the crib in our room (with them both in it) till they were 3 months old.
We then moved that crib into the nursery and put the girls in the separate cribs.

we used the PNP in our room.. when they exceeded the weight limit i just put them on the bottom, and took the bassinett part out.. it wasn't bad at all.

I had them in the twin pnp (bassinet part) in our living room for 3 months. Whoever was on duty for feedings would sleep on the couch. We did shifts. At three months I moved them upstairs to their cribs.

We did the exact same thing. It was the only way one of us could get uninterupted sleep. We tried having them in our room for 2 nights and it was a disaster. We moved them to our family room and one of us would sleep on the couch and do the feedings. The other would get to sleep upstairs.

Re: sleeping arrangements at the beginning

Having a bed in their room is a great idea.
My babies slept in our room in a bassinet together for a few weeks and when they got too big they slept in the PNP on the bottom part. I am a fan of putting babiesin their room from the beginning because I like to keep my room as my DH and my space, but since we were in the process of moving we had to keep them in our room. Once we moved and finished their room, they went right into their own cribs. That was around 6 weeks. It was good timing too because they both started rolling and moving around at this age, and punching eachother, pulling hair, so IMO 6 weeks was a good age to separate them.

We had a bed in their room and I slept in there for the first two months. Except for the first few days, DH slept in our room so he could get sleep.
