Im in Nesconset.
We use Drs Danzi and Hajduk. Commack Pediatric Partners. They are right on Vets Highway in Commack.
I like that they are both moms.
I used them when my son was born and I switched my older 3 girls over to them a few months ago. I like them alot.

Probably Mid Suffolk Pediatrics in Mt. Sinai. I have heard wonderful things about them. We have a consult at their office tomorrow. Can't wait to check it out!

do any of these pediatricians advocate delayed vaccinations?
I'm a researcher, so I did some research (sorry, I love that cheesy commercial)
At any rate, being a medical researcher, I know how important it is for our Dr's to be current in their fields... a lot unfortunately slack off once in private practice.... so generally, I try to find Dr's and dentists who are faculty members (becuase if they're responsible for teaching the new generation, they MUST be current)... it's even better if they're also researchers or MD/ PhD (becuase then they have an enormous amount of expertise).
I found Dr. Halegua online. He's in 2 offices (holtsville and wading river). He's a faculty member of SBU med school, was a researcher, and is an MD/PhD. We met with him this week...
I was very concerned about vaccinations, becuase I had a life threatening reaction to one immunization as a child, and also developed an autoimmune disease as a young adult.... all bad signs that Scone may not react well to vaccinations.
To make matters worse, when I was a baby in the early 70's, we only received about 8-12 shots.... now kids receive more than 40.... the current vaccination schedule includes some visits where 9 are given at once!
As for autism, while no one knows what causes it, one thing IS known... that the brain's myelin (the insulation to our wiring) is partially absent from autistic brains. Myelination occurs between 6 mo and 2 years... and some studies have given tantilizing proof that just like multiple sclerosis, autism may begin as an autoimmune disease (where the immune system kills the cells responsible for insulating the neurons, before their job is done).
becuase of this, I told him I want to delay most immunizations until after age 2, when the insulation is pretty much in place. (this is especially important since I have a bad history with vaccinations and autoimmune disease). He agreed... he said only 2 shots are really necessary for infants (whooping cough and something else), and other than that, we could delay and spread out the remaining immunizations....
so he's our man!

The above pediatrician will delay and split up shots if you prefer. That is one of the questions we asked when we interviewed them, but we decided to follow their recommended schedule for now.

Thanks for the perspective about seeking out physicians who are faculty members. I haven't actively started looking yet but I am certainly going to book mark this thread!

This is who we use too. They are right around the corner from us and I couldn't be happier with them.
Just an FYI - they both had babies within the past year or so, so I would think that they would be up to date on info for themselves as well as the practice.
I like that they are BTDT as opposed to the older male doctors that I also interviewed.
