ok - walk me through this
the gay and lesbian alliance is SCREAMING for equality
but they balk at anything depicting homosexuality on TV? i don't get it
i'm being serious
I think it was more beacuse at the end they had to "justify" the action by pulling out their chest hair to be manly.

Re: Snickers super bowl ad pulled.
here's my thing and this may get me some heat, but what the he!!
groups really need to lighten up, especially if they're coming out there and saying, we want to enjoy the same rights as hetero couples.
Equality means TOTAL equality, and with that, you gotta learn to take certain things with a sense of humor. It wasn't malicious. It wasn't bashing gays at all.
I am half-Italian - does that mean I should write a letter to HBO about how they depict Italians on the Sopranos?
Of course not - I take it for what it is - an attempt to draw ratings.
There are so many things we can take offense at that it gets silly after a while.
This reminds me of the feminist movement. You get some women screaming for equal rights and equal pay (which I do agree with). Then, they get on a subway and roll their eyes at you when you don't give them your seat. I'm not talking about preggos or elderly. My thought is, if we are equal, then no one would get up for me, so no one should get up for you, unless you need it.
My point is, we're so conviluted in being PC and traditional that in the end, we're losing sight of what we are trying to accomplish.

Sorry but that's the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard!! A man should get up for a woman for curtesty...NOT equal rights!!
A woman should make as much as a man doing the same job because that is EQUALITY.

Mikes parents were in the sons of italy and they actually boycotted the sopranos cause the portrayed them bad...
We still watched it every sunday with Mikes parents.

Re: Snickers super bowl ad pulled.
and here's how i feel about the courtesy argument
sorry for the hijack
i take an express bus to work
$5 one way
$5 back
at $10 a day, i'll be damned if I'm not getting a seat.
If I get on and a seat is not available, I stand
When people are standing and I am sitting, the only way I'm getting up is:
1) You are PG
2) You are elderly
3) (when i was single) You are hot, and there's a chance I might get a piece
There are plenty of buses that come along, it's your choice as to whether or not you want to stand. If you wait for the nexy bus, theres a 95% chance you'll get a seat.

So does the same apply for holding and opening doors?

no, i hold doors for men and women alike
letting a door slam in someone's face is rude no matter who it is

I haven't seen the commercial yet but I heard my DH laughing at it when it was on. From what's being described (I can't go to youtube at work) it sounds pretty innocent. Funny or not, I don't see why they see it as so offensive. This country is too uptight when it comes to certain things.

Re: Snickers super bowl ad pulled.
it wasn't the funniest commercial i've ever seen.... but it wasn't offensive either.
seriously, if we keep going at this rate, we may as well just change the name of the country to the "US of Lame".
until all the lame-o's of the country stand up and revolt against that, too
