so annoyed- WWYD?
I had mentioned during the summer that DS was put on the wait list for the school district pre-k and the woman told me he was far enough down on the list (#28) and that I should register him in private pre-k. So I signed him up where he attended last year. 5 mornings a week is costing me $5109 for the year, I've already paid half of that. Another mom mentioned to me that the district should be subsidizing DS's school and that the school he's registered at is part of the program. So I just called to find out more about that. Turns out the schools need to register to be ellegible and no private pre-ks registered this. But she did check and DS is now only 11 on the wait list and they're about to open up 7 spots. So that means that if 4 other kids can't make it work for whatever reason, then he has a spot in the district program.
But now what do I do? Do I pull him out of his school, where I already paid $2500? I know they aren't going to give me any of that back, though I will double check tomorrow. The school district obviously wouldn't hold a spot for DS until mid-year, so I'm not sure what to do.

well I would keep DS where he is since you don't know for sure if he'll get into district and you already paid. I wouldn't pay the remainder though any time soon. I would wait on that.

I wouldn't have to pay any more until December, and obviously I would know by then. But the question is, if he does have a definite district spot, should I pull him from the school he's in even though he's already started, or do I have him finish out the year where he is?

No, I would pull him and get him into district as soon as possible. I think at that age he'll be ok, plus he'll get to know the kids he will be attending kindergarden with. Plus, from your OP, he won't be the only newbie kid entering mid-year.

put in the school. you will lose the 2500 but you will not be paying additional 2500.
inquire if they will refund some of the $

I would pull him. If you were willing to pay $5,900 for a full year, then the $2,500 you already paid is a bargain for the entire year!

Would the switch be too much for him? is the quality the same? if so, i would pull him. I would hope the school would give you back some money though.
