So anyones DC take the the new baby amazingly, or am I being beyond delusional?

DD is obsessed with babies..literally she could be in a room full of kids her age and older and she'll want to play mommy with the baby..she'll want to make nice to them, hold their hand and just kiss them....it's honestly the cutest thing ever...so it gives me some hope that she'll be good with the new baby...or will the newness of it wear off in about a minute and all hell will break loose when she realizes this baby isn't leaving and is taking up mommy and daddy's timeChat Icon

DS transitioned fantastically when the babies came home. He was never jealous. I made a point to give him some special attention and a lot of other people (my mom, MIL, sis etc.) would always make a fuss over him before the babies when they were over.

When they got bigger and into his stuff......well thats a different story!!! Chat Icon

My niece took fairly well to her new baby brother. But I got tell you, the parents prepared her like crazy. They talked about him like he already existed. His clothes, his crib, his stroller, what he will eat, where he will sit...

She had a rough patch but got over it pretty easy, and not sure if it was because she loves babies (asks me to make another Chat Icon) or because they prepared her so much and involved her so much in "taking care" of the baby.

But also I noticed she plays a lot better with my DS than with her brother, they are around the same age. And the mother is always telling me she is so good with other babies, but she just tolerates her brother.

The first 4-6 weeks was definitely an adjustment period for DS, but after that, it's been nothing but Chat Icon Chat Icon between the 2 of them.

He absolutely adores DD and always wants to kiss her, hug her, make her laugh and smile. He gets upset if she cries and tries to soothe, get me to pick her up and hold her.

Sometimes I wll sit her next to him on the couch when he is watching TV, and he will unconsciously take her hand and hold it while he is watching TV.Chat Icon

She is 5.5 mos old and it gets better every day.

People tell me that when she gets older and starts getting into his stuff, it will change, but for right now, they adore each other.

DS has been great with DD since before she was born. He has never been jealous. Never acted out or regressed. My biggest problem is that he wants to hug her all the time. He was never overly interested in babies, but he was also almost 4 when she was born.

My DD was only 19 months when DD#2 was born, but they have been best friends since the beginning. There was never any jealousy. It was like a dream!

The first two days in the hospital, DS didn't want to hold the baby, but was ok kissing DD. After we brought her home, he wanted to be held too, but when I started asking him to help me, he got so excited. He would help get the bottle, throw diapers away, put her laundry away.

So he adjusted fairly well.Chat Icon

Samantha was IN LOVE with Isaac. I was SO happy because I was very concerned as she is very attached to me.

Well, once she realized he wasn't going away, things changed. She is very jealous now. Thankfully, the hitting and headbutting him has stopped and she is back to hugging and kissing him. But she will NOT let him even look at HER toys!

LOL...I think this will be Chels, the second any baby gets next to her toys she screams stops and tries to grab it out of their hands!!!

We were at a drs office the other and there was a baby in it's car seat and it started crying, and Chels got very concerned and said "uh oh baby crying" and ran over to it and wanted to kiss it and make her feel better...Im just scared that once she realizes that it's taking attention away from her it'll be downhill from there

Exactly this! I made sure everyone made a fuss over Landon first before seeing the babies.

He has really surprised me. Before the babies were born he was a total mommas boy. We had a very active social life and had so much fun together every single day. When the babies came, so much changed ,but he has adapted and is my little helper now.

Recently the babies have started grabbing his toys and he is not liking it. We have to work on that.
