so confused re table food
So DD is 7 months - I have been so confused about the whole solid food thing right from the start.
When do I start giving her things like cheese etc.? When can she have parts of our meal slightly mashed up?
I'm very confused. I know each baby is different but what is the general consensus and ho do I know she is ready?
SOrry for all the question and thanks!!

Re: so confused re table food
Molly is almost 9 months and I give her little bits of everything we eat (within reason.. such as chicken, potatoes, veggies, fruits, etc.) She doesnt' want baby food anymore. Pancakes, waffles, crackers, bananas, peas, cheese, toast, scrambled eggs...she eats it all!

For us personally, I am giving them things as I feel they are ready. I found that giving them Puffs to play with, pick up and eat has made them interested in table food and better capable to chew and swallow.

Puffs...I think puffs are great. DD has really picked up on eating well and has been off baby food since about 8 or 9 mths. They help with motor skills too.

Re: so confused re table food
we started w/ cheerios and puffs around 7 months. Now (at 10 1/2 months) I do cut up banana, french toast squares, blueberries and other finger friendly foods. I feel like once they got the hang of the puffs and feeding themselves, they were in a better position to feed themselves other types of food so I always offer it to them on their tray.

Re: so confused re table food
I feel you with this question! I was like when is he going to eat regular food? I mean I'd try and he just wanted no parts of it. So I would try here and there but not push it, I'd just stick with the baby food mostly. But then, magically, one day he put something in his mouth and that was it. He didn't start eating table food till he was over 13 months old.

I also gave him puffs first. Once he got the hang of that, we just gave him more and more table foods to try.

Re: so confused re table food
Thanks everyone! I have been giving her puffs - but most of the time she won't put them into her mouth. Which is ironic, since she seems to want to put everything in her mouth.
