I didn't read the book b/c I wasn't that interested. I did rent the movie to see what all of the fuss was about, and honestly, i didn't think it was that big a deal. Probably partly due to the fact that I watch Ugly Betty, and it's so similar.

I read the book and saw the movie like opening weekend-- the book-- total brain candy and while it had its moments, certiainly not a pulitzer prize winning novel. I LOVED the movie-- it was a smart, clever comedy-- but totally different than the book.
I loved Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway though--

I think that what made the movie so great. I am usually not a big fan of based on book movies because they always disappoint, but this was different. The book is only so so, but I though the movie was excellent, all thanks to Meryl. She turned this really silly role into a masterpiece.

Her role in Elizabeth I was phenomenal. I watched it when it premiered on HBO and I never allowed DH to talk to me as we watched it.
