So, Got my results from the 3 hour...
and I failed. 
The dr called me last night and said I borderline failed. She said my levels from the 4 blooddraws varied, but they were all on the borderline of failing. She wants me to meet with the diabetic counselor at NSUH and she said they want me to learn how to test my sugar everyday and then follow a diet. Since my levels were low, they want to monitor me but do not feel I need medication to control it at this point.
I kind of figured I would have it, there is such a strong family history of it on both sides and I have PCOS, which is related. I'm happy that it's borderline though. And this was my actual dr (not the nasty old man) and she was so nice and did not make me feel like it was my fault at all.
Anyone else diagnosed with GD? Wanna share your experiences?

I had GD when I was pregnant with my DD. I won't lie.....it really S-U-C-K-E-D in the beginning but then I got use to testing my sugars, taking the insulin shots 4x/day and following the diet plan. It all became second nature and I survived.  My DD was born healthy and with no problems from my GD and the GD went away as soon as she was born.
I know it stinks to have to deal with GD but it's only for a few weeks. You might be better off than I was since you were borderline. I failed the 1hr. so badly they didn't even do the 3hr.........I was sent right to the endocrinologist and the rest is history. If you have any questions you can FM me and I will try and help. Hang in there, it's only temporary.

I'm sorry you failed!
I was diagnosed with GD about a month ago. I met with the diabetic counselor at Winthrop who showed me how to monitor my blood and put me on a modified diet.
Honestly, it hasn't been as bad as I expected it to be. I am a big wimp when it comes to needles, getting shots, etc. and the blood testing is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have to check my blood 4 times a day, first thing in the morning, and then 2 hours after every meal. I have to watch my carb intake and calories at every meal but I feel it's even less restrictive than the low carb diets like South Beach & Atkins. My blood levels have been normal since I started the diet, my OB said if my levels continue this way, it looks like I'll be able to avoid meds and/or having a C-section.

Aw I'm sorry. The good news is you don't need medication. It will be overwhelming at first, but in a week or so you will be comfortable. It is more common than most ppl think during pregnancy. All that matters is that you &  are doing well. Good luck w/ the counselor.

Awwwh.. so sorry. I have to take the 3hr once again..many of you know my horrible experiences with taking the test, vomitting 2 times and then finally the 3rd time held it down. So this will be my 4th time drinking that crap.. One of the 4 blood draws were high, so they want me to do it yet again just to make sure. I just wish they would tell me to test my blood sugar everyday instead of doing this damn test again!!!

Another GD here! I was devastated when I first failed but once I met with the dietician and started testing my sugars it turned out not to be as restriciting as I thought it would be.

Ugh! I remember your stories! You poor thing!! I was soo nervous at the 3 hour, bc I had such bad M/S that day and the drink was different that than b4 and just a little nastier!

I was diagnosed today also.. I do not know where to begin. I hope we can learn through each other with this.
I see a diabeities dr on Tues. I will see what comes out of it.

oh sweety - i am here for you!!! i failed both the 1 hour and 3 hour, quoting my nurses here, 'with GUSTO'....so borderline would've been lovely :)
