So gross...I think I contracted fungus from the nail place
Ugh...I get a pedicure every few weeks during my lunch break at work. I havent gone for one in about 2 weeks now. The other day I was wearing sandals and my BF looks down and says "looks like you have toenail fungus"  Pretty sure I do on at least both of my big toes. I dont know where else I could have gotten it besides at the nail salon.
I've never had it before and I was reading up on it...everything I'm reading is saying that its very hard to get rid of and both topical and perscription meds can take up to a year to get rid of the fungus  It's so unsightly and disgusting!
Does anyone know of anything that works to get rid of this stuff? I'm so grossed out and upset. Figures this would happen during prime flip-flop wearing season 
And I'm assuming I cant get pedicures while I have it? Ugh...I wish there was a way to cover it.

You need to get thee to a podiatrist! This is very common, and most podiatrists advise against pedicures for this very reason.
If you want a good recc in Suffolk, let me know.

Tea tree oil. It stinks but it works. Have to use it until it goes away.

Yep, get to the foot doctor!
Mine never got better with topical ointments and got worse if anything.
I had to use Lamisil and that even took 3 months or more.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Going to the a doctor is the best thing to do. Would you mind sharing the name of the nail salon? I'm afraid if this happening to me too!

Yes it really stinks. It happened to me last summer and my toe nail fell off. So gross. Now I bring my own tools when I go for a pedi/mani and so far so good.

Be careful! It's often not the tools, but the jets of the tub are where the fungus/bacteria grow, because they are always wet and not cleaned properly.

I had it on my big toe years ago and the topical solution my dr. gave me knocked it right out. it was in a nail polish bottle, prescription, that you would put on like a polish..just a thin liquid. and it worked really well.
your family dr. or derm should be able to treat it fast!
not to be gross..but is it green? or a yellowish color?

yea, ita...it's the jets. there is a place called fashion nails in north babylon in sunset city (on DPA) that has new tubs that don't have regular jets...they have this silver piece that comes off of the tub and goes into the sterilizer after every pedi so that it's thoroughly cleaned. Oh, and a mani/pedi is only 20 bucks!  It's a brand new place and really nice.

I was just talking with a friend who's a nail tech and she also said don't shave prior to a pedi cause your skin is open and prone to infection too.
GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!!!!
