So here's my saga...opinions please...
So, I did a Clomid round this cycle, 150mg days 5-9. I was going for scans/bloodwork since CD12. Monday was CD15 (I usually ovulate on my own around CD16 or CD17) and I went into the office where they did a scan/bloodwork. When I was in the office he said that I had about 8 follies, 4 of them over 18mm but he saw one big one at around 20mm. So he said that he thought I should take the Ovidrel on Monday night at 11pm and I'd come in either Tuesday or Wednesday morning for an IUI. But he'd call me later and let me know (after he received my bloodwork).
He called me Monday night and said my numbers were high, estrogen was 300-something, and I could take the Ovidrel at any point (he called around 5:30) and I should come in tomorrow (which was Tuesday) for an IUI. Now, since my numbers were high I figured I'd take an OPK, which turned out to be negative. I took the shot and went about my business.
Tuesday morning I woke up and did an OPK, just for the heck of it. It was negative again! I went into the doctor and told him that my OPK was negative. He said normally after you're given Ovidrel you stop taking OPKs, but since we have this additional information, we can *try* to schedule an IUI for tomorrow as well. It seems him and the other doctor in the office were going to be in conferences all of Wednesday morning.
I had posted Monday afternoon to you guys and asked about Ovidrel and how long it took. You guys answered that it would take about 36 hours, so Wednesday morning was on target. This guy was trying to get out of doing the IUI on Wednesday by doing it Tuesday!
I ended up being able to get squeezed in for an appointment yesterday afternoon for another IUI. So I had 2 this cycle. I took an OPK Tuesday night and it was positive so that made me feel better. I was so mad at my doctor, you have no idea. How dare he almost miss my cycle again! If you guys remember, last cycle he missed because he's a dope! He almost missed this one as well because he could have been doing the IUI too early!
Now for the advice portion of the post
Do you think that me doing the IUI Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon was enough? Should I have done another one today? Should the IUI really have been Wednesday morning and I was too late?? Do you think it's time for me to switch doctors?
TIA!!!
ETA: The doctor who did my IUI on Wednesday afternoon asked me "what made you and the other doctor decide to do the IUI yesterday morning if you took the Ovidrel on Monday night?" which kind of scared me a little, obviously he knew something sounded bizarre as well!!

Thank god you were checking with the OPK's. I would definitely change my doctor or have a serious talk with him. As far as the IUI, did your RE check to see if the eggs were released? I know when I did my IUI they checked to see that this indeed happened. From what it sounds like I think you did the IUI in time. Sending you a ton of baby dust!

Look for a new doctor. Once you lose trust in a doctor it is hard to continue going to him/her..no matter what kind of doctor it is.

My old specialist missed it once and almost missed it again, and that was the last time I went to them.

I think you should be good with the two IUI's but I would say to start looking for a new RE ASAP. There is no excuse for missing your cycle 2x. Hopefully this cycle works though and you will not need to see another RE. Good Luck!

I thought you should have changed Drs. when he missed your O last time. We pay way too much money to these guys and put way too much trust in them, they shouldn't be obviously screwing things up. You should have enough faith in your RE that you feel comfortable with him/her and don't feel you have to check up on him.
Good luck...the two IUI's should be fine!!! And I don't think you would have missed it by doing it Wednesday afternoon.

Sounds like the timing was well for catching the ovulation. I think the wednesday afternoon was a good one actually.
And yeah I would switch Dr's. if you can.

Re: So here's my saga...opinions please...
Hey Lauren. I will tell you I never got a positive on my OKP's this last time, they just went with the bloodwork results. I actually thought it may have been too early for my last IUI...but it worked. I think you are TOTALLY convered by having one wed. and Tues.! Also....BD...LOTS! So many follies, I never had more than 3. WOW!
This could be it baby. I have every finger and toe crossed, and will be feeling the pain of this 2ww along with you! We have to think of some things to distract you!
Did Dr. B do the IUI?

Re: So here's my saga...opinions please...
Sounds like Wednesday was the day to do your IUI. However, I would have no faith in an RE who wanted to do an IUI less than 36 hours after the trigger shot. My RE insisted on 36-48 hours after the shot.
I would change REs -- if need be. BUT...hopefully your next Dr. will be an OB!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% but besides the $$ the emotional investment is too high to wastee time.

Oh he!! to the NO as Whitney would say. This guy just makes me However, when trying naturally you are supposed to have the sperm there waiting for the egg right? So I think the timing was good. If you got a pos. Tues night that means you probably O'd wed. night. I think one on Tues and one on Wed was good timing. I'll be thinking about you for the next 2 weeks!! I hope this is it

I agree with the ladies, I would defintely look into switching doctors.
It does sound like the timing was right for this cycle though. For me last cycle I did the Ovidrel on a Saturday night and went in for an IUI on Sunday/Monday

Re: So here's my saga...opinions please...
Thank you everyone so much for your responses.
One thing for sure is I'm lucky DH has so many sperm. He's like a sperm making machine! He has 29 million after the washing on Tuesday with 94% motility and then 20 million on Wednesday with 91% motility. I was shocked!
I think you're all right, I think it's time for me to find a new doctor. I was thinking of going to LI IVF because so many of you girls have had great success there and the offices are convenient.
Lu Ann - It was L who did the first 1 and B who did the second. B is my good luck charm, so I'm hoping he did the right thing. I had to literally beg L for the second IUI on Wednesday.
Again, thanks everyone. I'm hoping I don't need to switch doctors and hoping my next doctor is an OB! But now on to the 2WW with the rest of you girls.
You guys are the best support system ever! (I wish they had a happy face hugcry because he's really smiling!)
