So home depot wants......
$14,000 to reface my tiny tiny amount of kitchen cabinets and replace the countertop!!! are they cracked??? i barely have a countertop!!!!! i posted pics of the kitchen so you can see how crazy this price is. so much for us getting it done by someone so it can be quick. looks like dh has some work ahead of him and i'll have to keep living with a messy kitchen till he's done!!! Wow that does sound very high!! I know my sister got around the same quote...but that was for refacing, more counter space, a half wall with counter/bar area and much more.
I would definitely price out some more places if I were you. Did you try Lowes and/or Sears?

For that price you will get a brand new cabinet at Ikea and granite counter top.
You should look for granite remnants since your countertop is so small.

that's what we're thinking of doing. dh is going to sand down the exisiting cabinets, restain and we'll just get a granite countertop from somewhere.

for that price you can get practically get custom cabinets w/ new boxes in 100% wood construction with major upgrades! (I just sent you an FM)

$14k sounds like A LOT to me...Our kitchen is about the same size & for about $2k more than that we completely gutted & remodeled it. That price included custom cabinets, granite countertops, floor & backsplash tiling, electrical & plumbing work and sheetrocking. It also included moving the back door to another room completely & adding another whole wall of cabinets...so $14k sounds like a lot of $$ to me for that little work

Dh and I just went to Consumers Kitchens and Baths and got brand new cabinets and granite counter tops for alot less than that.. you may want to check them out.

we used us cabinet refacing, probably same amount of cabinets, but formica counters. It cost about 6K.
