So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
Were there any disasters? Any huge successes?? Tell us how it went.
I roasted a HUGE fore rib of beed and it was STUPENDOUS. Delish! I also made Potatoes roasted in goose fat, honey roasted parsnips and butternut squash, brussels sprouts, carrots and for our pudding...a FANTASTIC Sticky Toffee Pudding served with Vanila Ice Cream. It all went very well!

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
My small dinner with just DH and I went very well. This is the first time I can ever remember DH HELPING me prepare dinner. He peeled the potatoes and trimmed the string beans. I made chicken piccata with artichoke hearts, garlic mashed potatos and stringbeans almondine. YUMMY!

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
For Christmas Eve I made rice balls and fried calamari for the first time.
Both came out surprisingly great! (-) I did have to clean oil that splattered everywhere (+) my kitchen is clean!
For Christmas I made lasagna, lobster tails.
BOTH YUMMY!!!
My Cheesecake was awesome too, I think better than any you can buy.

I made cookies and chocolate chip banana nut bread- all were a success.
Especially my caramel pecan butter cookies...mmmmmm
However- my kitchen still looks like a bakery exploded in it!

It was the first time I made ham and I think it came out great. It was really easy too.

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
Well, I spent $75.00 on a prime rib and I knew it...something was going to go wrong. Maybe it was the fact that I've never cooked one, nor had I ever cooked ANYTHING on my menu before. Maybe it's the fact that I really don't cook at all. I'm reallllly trying to fulfill my new-ish role as SAHM. So....
it took me about 50 million hours to cook the roast. I let it defrost for over 24 hours, but evidently it wasn't enough because it was still frozen in the middle. And I thought the meat thermometer was broken Meanwhile, all the sides (brussels sprouts w/pancetta, roasted potatoes, carrots, parsnips and turnips, and a Yorkshire pudding) were getting cold...everyone was starving. I went up to my attic and cried. Then I started drinking The thing that made me feel much better was when my FIL (who probably never saw anyone crying in person in his life) said, "You want to cry, visit the nursing home like I did this morning." That really put it in perspective...along with the wine
In the end, everything turned out really well all things considered, but I think I would still like to hire one of you to cook next year's dinner for me!

I made a pudding. Croissant Bread Pudding with White Chocolate. My family really loved it.
Our disasters were conflicts in the kitchen between family members. Joyous holidays.

This was my first time making the Christmas meal and entertaining the FIL!!! I think it went great! Everyone dogged everything and they asked for a plate to go home. I was very proud of myself!!

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
Well, after cutting myself twice with my new knives and crying hysterically when dh's aunt showed up early (I was so stressed) she helped me and everything came out fine. Oh well. I am no cook but maybe next year I can do it all myself

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
Since DH had to work on Christmas, I had to cook for 13 by myself. Everything turned out fine, although I think the penne vodka could have used more sauce

Re: So how did our Christmas meals turn out???
it came out eh
I ordered alot from uncle giuseppes liske friend calamari, baked clams, baccala
I also made liguini and clam sauce, lobster tails, and salmon
The salmon never cooked right that stunk. and then my dad and my brother proceed to tell me that they dontreally like fish and I was like huh? Cause my dad was the one to say that we just HAD to have fish because we are italian blah blah blah and then proceeded to complain. So my 300 Plus dollar meal was just aight and Im really upset over the money that was spent and no appreciation. Everything tasted ok ( besides the salmon fiasco) but nothing was outrageous and Im very dissapointed.
