So, I do a majority of the home improvement stuff over here...

and I honestly love it. It's my thing. The great thing for my husband is that he doesn't have to do any of it. Except now that I'm pregnant, he's been called upon to do two small things today: 1)rip the half wall paneling down from the kitchen walls and 2)meet my dad at Home Depot so he can help him buy the supplies to put our wainscoting up.
That's it. That's the ONLY two things this man has to do for our house. I stripped, primed and painted all of our cabinets, changed the hardware, stripped the wallpaper, sanded the walls, primed the walls, painted the walls, ripped out the carpeting (yes, we had carpet in the kitchenChat Icon ), found a flooring company, moved the furniture out so the guys could redo the floor and moved it all back when they were done. I'm not pulling a "woe is me", I truly wanted to do all those things, but why, WHY is my husband in the worst of moods because he has TWO things to do in the kitchen today? I mean, he's being a complete baby. Pouting, whining, getting angry. It's TWO SIMPLE THINGS!Chat Icon Chat Icon I've been waiting months for my kitchen to get done, my dad is finally finishing it today and I swear I'm going to smack my husband soon!
But on the bright side....I'll hopefully have pics to post of my kitchen by the end of the dayChat Icon

I just needed to complain somewhere other than to him because I know that if I complain about his attitude to him, it'll get even worse. So thanks for listening!!

Re: So, I do a majority of the home improvement stuff over here...

My DH is EXACTLY the same way! He hates doing anything around the house or yard. I raked 90% of all the leaves on our half acre this Fall - he helped for an less than 2 hours on two separate days and he groused about it. I attribute it to two things - partly his attitude that he works hard all week and wants to relax on weekends (hello - so do I!!!) but also his upbringing where his Father dictated chores - telling him and his brother that they had to paint the apartment and stuff like that - he unfortunately learned to resent doing stuff like that instead of the way I learned which was the whole family pitching in to help out around the house. {{{hugs}}} I know exactly how you feel - I hope his mood passes soon!

I love when people do that. I so know what you mean about pointing it out too - then it gets much, much worse - because he knows you're right of course. Love it.

Just tune out the bitcching and whining...

Go ahead and stumble your fist into his head. Chat Icon

You are a girl after my own heart.....I love to do the home improvements but you have every reason to vent.....I'd be screaming if DH put up a fit to do just the two things.....

VENT AWAY!!!!!!!

i soooo know what you are talking about.

i feel GUILTY everytime i ask him to do something around the house... (fixing.. that is, not cleaning!)

well, we haven't had that battle in a looonnnggg time. once we finally get into the new place, i think we are both going to be so excited to do ANYTHING. hopefully that lasts a while.

Good luck! his pouting, moaning and groaning will be over by the end of the day...
