So I just narrowly missed a bank robbery...
Have checks I needed to deposit at Commerce today. Was walking out the door and said, "Let me call DH first". We talked for a few minutes and I left. When I got outside there were cops in riot gear EVERYWHERE. I just kept walking (this is what working in the city does to you - completely indifferent to things like that). Anyway, when I got to Commerce the employees were all outside with cops in front - someone had just robbed it 10 minutes earlier... jsut about when I would have been there had I not called DH!!
They've since closed every building and store around the area (5th and 37th) with cops in every doorway. My work was the first block open.
Crazy, right?!?!

No, it's just on the opposite corner. I can't think of what used to be there but it's only been there for a few months. (Not where au bon pain is, the other opposite corner, south).

The Commerce across the street from my office ( 7th & 25th) has been held up several times in the last 2 years & I have walked up to the aftermath one of those times.
I wonder why they are targeted?

I think it's really the most unsecure bank ever. They have no glass between the customer and the tellers and they also have no mobile glass to 'jail' anyone in and/or cordon off any sections.

no teller glass? That's insane! I am not a customer, I have been to thw ATM once or twice, but usually I just stand in front of it next to the Brinks truck, waiting for the light to change
