Ditto on this.

Vampire Academy is a great YA series. Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" was really good, too.

ETA: DUH! Harry Potter! How could I not think of that?! This was another series I scoffed at, didn't want to read, hated how popular it was.... and then I read them. And I became one of them. Chat Icon I'm obsessed.

I asked for the films on blu ray b/c they are going in the "vault" on 12/30 until God knows when. I think she is saving them for a new generation.

What about the Sookie Stackhouse mystery novels? They are amazing. So much better than the TV show (even though I love the show)! Chat Icon

Re: So I loved the Twilight books and the Hunger Games trilogy...

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. So, I just finished reading the first two books in a trilogy called Matched. Pretty good if anyone is interested. I'd have to look up who wrote them. The third book is due out next year sometime.
I have the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on my kindle, but haven't been able to get into it. I've heard that most people felt that way in the beginning of it, so I might just try to push through it and see if it gets better.
I'm glad I have somewhere to start now. Thanks for the suggestions!

I just had the same issue - I finished the hunger games and was dying for something new. I've read a lot of the suggestions on here but I have new ideas to check out too!

Definitely keep going- it gets so much better. I was cursing my DH's name when I started reading it (since he kept egging me on to read it) but then I loved it!

I've heard that series Matched is good, too. I actually just read the "Trylle" trilogy by Amanda Hocking. The first book was Switched. I wasn't crazy about the first book, but I really enjoyed the last two in the trilogy.

Re: So I loved the Twilight books and the Hunger Games trilogy...

I second the Harry Potter Series as well as the Millennium Trilogy. I like to stay with characters for awhile, so series work for me.

Also - Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Graceling and Fire (two different books) by Kristen Cashore. LOVED these books.

Have you read the Vampire Chronicles or The Lives of the Mayfair Witches?

ETA: also Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely series

Keep trying. If you're coming off of Hunger Games and Twilight, those are VERY quick, easy reads, but Millenium takes a little more to get into it. I recommend trying to stick it out.
