so i thought the appt given to me was too early for an "8wk appt" but the receptionist didn't....confused
so i just took the appt but as i thought about it more it doesnt make sense.....please help....if i got my last period on sept 7th.....wouldn't a october 23rd appt be too early? that wouldn'tbe an 8 wk appt right?

That does seem a little early for 8 weels, I think 8 weeks would be closer to 11/2 but I could be off. Some OBs will do appointments earlier but I would call her back and just ask if she was 100% about the date.

Thanks so much I needed someone else's take on it since she seemed adamant that it was right I'm going to call on Monday to get it rescheduled because I might be in the minority but i would rather later than earlier for a 1st appt so that I know for certain dates and know that the baby will be seen and heartbeat heard

every dr. is different. mine would have taken me the next day if i wanted, but i made mine for 6 weeks. yours is a little past 6 weeks so its likely that you would see a heartbeat, and they would do a blood test.
Even if you wait til 8 weeks, they may not be able to hear the heartbeat yet, or they may not let you (my tech said they don't try for sound until 12 weeks)

You are definitely not 8 weeks based on your LMP. that appointment is schedule for more like JUST 7 weeks.
I know my LMP was 8/4. I was scheduled for my 8 weeks appointment on 10/2. Yours should be around 11/3-11/5, somewhere around there.

if you are sure about your dates of ovulation/conception and would be 7w or later you should see the HB by then so i would just keep the appt.

At that point you'll probably be just over 6w. Your baby could have a hb or it could be too early. I'd try pushing it back a week just to ensure you can see your LO's heart at work!

My appt was set for 7 weeks and they were able to pick up the heart beat and they took my blood so I think everything should be fine, unless YOU want to change your appt date

my Dr saw me at 7 weeks, but only to confirm to pg with a urine and they did a pap smear. At that appointment I was scheduled for an ultrasound to date the pregnancy a week and 1/2 later. good luck!

I go my las period on September 6th and th earliest the would see me was the week of the 22nd. My appt is November 5th which she said makes me just past 8 weeks.

They might be doing blood work first. My doc did and I was about 6.5 weeks. From there they did the first sono at 8 weeks.

i wouldnt stress it, worst case they will have you go back for another sono (not so bad).
our first appt was at 6w5d and then back at 8w. we DID see the HB at 6w5d.

see this is how my doctors office usually works....with my two dd's my 1st appt was scheduled for the 8th week because they don't want to worry you by making you come earlier and for some reason not seeing or hearing what you think you should....so that's why i think the receptionist just didn't count the weeks right lol.....i think im going to call back that way i don't have to go back again especially since i have to lug my two daughters every time
