So it is common practice for people to text at the movies now?
I mean seriously... if you cannot go 2 flippin hours without communicating with someone, get some help!  
I couldn't believe how many women were texting during SATC on Friday night.

Did you not have the big screen warning before the movie that texting was just as annoying as cell phone use during the movie?

no - and I was surprised they didn't show that. a few ppl's cell phones rang too SO annoying. this is the reason why I rarely go to the movies anymore. only if it's something DH or I *have* to see ASAP

I saw that! My cell phone is always OFF when I'm in the movies. I saw some girl constantly on her blackberry.

I noticed that recently too. I don't get it and will never understand what could be so important. It's not like these people are being called out for emergencies - they just need to be in contact 24/7.
I wonder how these super important people would have managed living in the dark ages of waiting until you got home to talk to someone or (gasp) carried quarters to use a public phone.

It is sooooooooo annoying when people do that! I'm on call 24/7 for my job, and my cell phone is always on vibrate at the movies. And it's very rare that I get up to check the messages unless someone calls me repeatedly (then I know it's an emergency).

I am so not surprised. People text everywhere now. I used to live across the street from a subway exit and I would people watch as the 5:30 pm train riders exited. 90% of them (rough estimate ) immediately pulled out their phone and started gabbing away. It was creepy.

people do it everywhere now. what bothers me the most is when it happens during Mass. for crying out loud, if God isn't important enough for you to turn your phone or blackberry off, who is?
