So, I've never read a Jodi Picolt book...
Tell me why you like her. I'm deciding whether or not to give her a shot, but I need encouragement here. Thanks!

I like her characters and style of writing. Its easy to read and isnt too descriptive. I hate when an author goes on and on.

Re: So, I've never read a Jodi Picolt book...
i actually went to a book discussion she had and she was truly amazing in person. So nice and down to earth her parents and grandparents were there she was so sweet. i have read a few of her books the best one i have read so far is 19 minutes- its her newest, i also like my sisters keeper. i read the 10th circle and i wasnt that impressed. i heard plain truth was very good i think that will be the next jodi book i try.

She is BRILLIANT.. Her stories keep you turning and turning each page and what you would expect from the ending is nowhere near what she writes..
I have to say My Sister's Keeper, The Pact and Nineteen Minutes are the best ones I read from her so far.. I liked The Tenth Circle and I have Picture Perfect which I haven't started yet..

I read a few of her books and don't really love her...but most people do, so give it a shot.

I probably will give her a shot. If I don't like what I'm reading...I won't finish!
Thanks everyone, for your input.

Re: So, I've never read a Jodi Picolt book...
I am big fan of chick lit so I wasn't too excited to read My Sister's Keeper when a friend lent it to me. I could not out it down. I read a ton, but her books really stay with me. It's a cliche, but they make you think!
Loved 19 Minutes. It is probably the best book I read all year. School shotings are in the news and a sad reality. This book addressed the topic brilliantly.

I find her overrated, however, I really liked "19 Minutes" and "My Sister's Keeper." I read several of her other books but those are the only 2 that I truly enjoyed.

She's okay IMO, but I don't love her like other people do. I've read The Pact and The 10th Circle. I liked the Pact but when I read The 10th Circle I thought she was following a formula.

I read them in that order and thought that too. THe Plain Truth was differnt from them and I enjoyed it.
I just started keeping Faith today and have high hopes. I loved 19 Minutes

I think most of her stories are so unpredictable and thats what I like about her. There are always unexpected twists. Esp in My Sisters Keeper.
Also - she shows diff points of view where you almost dont know who to side with. Without giving anything away, in 19 min- although there was a horrible tragecy and a horrible crime commited, you can almost understand why that happened. I cried so many times throughout that book and my sisters keeper.
Vanishing Acts was really good too

i absolutely agree. she makes you think, for real... and i tend to get lost in her books, which is key for me. 19 minutes was my favorite, also loved plain truth, salem falls and perfect match.

Re: So, I've never read a Jodi Picolt book...
I am hooked on her books. My Sister's Keeper was the first one I read and have since read all of them. The Plain Truth and Pact are two of my other favorites. I have enjoyed them all- I find that the storylines are a little unpredictable and its a welcome change from other authors. I highly recommend her!
