So Moms... if you planned on having another child after you had your first...
would you bother buying a convertible crib? Or is a toddler/twin bed cheaper and I shouldnt bother with a crib that converts? TIA!!

I plan to have at least one more child and I plan to buy a convertible crib/bed for the next baby too.

I am hoping to not have another baby until she is out of her crib --- we'll get her her own toddler bed and the new baby will go into her old crib.

When we have another baby he or she will get Julia's furniture set, and we are going to buy Julia a toddler bed and new furniture.

Connor got Caiden's crib and changing/dresser table. We got a set that was neutral for a boy or a girl so we could use it with another baby. I don't see spending more money on another crib if you don't have to. You'll have other expenses to worry about when a second one comes.
With Caiden we didn't even use his crib as a toddler bed. He went from his crib straight into a twin race car bed. He never would of fit in a toddler bed for long so we didn't even bother. Also, this way he now has a twin bed for when he gets older. He's been in it since he was 20 months old. When Connor is big enough we'll either get him a twin bed set or bunk beds for both of them.

WE bought a convertible crib because it happened to be the crib we both liked. We didn't buy it because it converts.
anyway, when we had our second, the nursery furniture stayed in the nursery for the new baby and my older child got a new toddler bed and a dresser.

We're going to use the crib and furniture again. And buy Ellie a toddler bed when she's old enough.

We didn't buy a convertible crib. We figured we'd just get a bed when the time comes.

WE bought a convertible cvrib, and used it as a toddler bed, and then got preggo with #2... We transitioned DS into his own Toddler bed and set the crib up as a crib again, and DD is in it now. DS is now in a full size bed. HTH

we got a convertible crib for our 1st. i figured that baby #2 would probably arrive before #1 moves on to a bigger bed. i also wanted them each to have their own set.

Re: So Moms... if you planned on having another child after you had your first...
We had planned on using this furniture as the "nursery" furniture (for future child/children). Turns out that it does convert, as do many anyway. We are going to buy a second crib and then give this set to the girls to grow up with. We'll worry about future nursery if/when we have to.

Re: So Moms... if you planned on having another child after you had your first...
We were thinking of having a 2nd soon after the first was born. We bought the "lifetime" convertible furniture for both DC. They each have their own set of furniture, that they will have as long as they live with us (and they can take with them when they move out.) It converts from a bassinet/crib to daybed, to twin bed, so no need to buy more furniture that way.

the "plan" as of now is... if we have another , we will use DD's furniture for and buy DD a toddler set. if we have a , we will buy a new convertible set for him.
Same here.

I love Luca's crib set and I wouldn't feel right "taking" it away from him for a new baby. We'll probably wind up buying baby #2 their own covertible set.

Re: So Moms... if you planned on having another child after you had your first...
We thought about buying a convertible crib but realized that the one we liked converted into a full size bed. I don't think the kid's bedrooms in my house can accommodate a full size bed plus dresser, and whatever else they will need. So, we ended up just buying a regular crib with matching dressers. We will reuse the crib for the next baby. We'll decide what to do with the dressers when the time comes. Either Marron can have them and get a bed that will complement the dressers or the new baby can have them and Marron will get a brand new set. If they stay with the new baby he/she will get a complementary bed when the time comes.

I love Jenna's set too and feel it is "hers" now so when we have another baby Jenna's crib will convert and we will buy new nursery furniture for a baby.

Plan on having more kids, and we got the convertible. If I had a girl next I would get her a more girlish set and convert this one.
For another boy I am not sure if I would convert or use it for the new baby.

I'm going to buy another convertable crib. DS won't be out of his crib yet so I figure that I would just buy the same set in maybe a different shade.

Re: So Moms... if you planned on having another child after you had your first...
We purchased a convertiable for the first and now that I pg with my 2nd and DS is only 8 months we are purchasing a second convertiable crib. We have a changing dressed and a high chest for DS to complete his set that my mom bought for us but I am thinking of buying DS a bookshelf to match his set and then take the changing dresser and crib for the new baby so we save some money. If the 2nd is another boy then they will share a room and I just have to buy a crib

Gianna will be 14 months old when #2 is born, she has a convertible set. She is keeping all of her furniture. We are buying the new baby a new crib and new furniture.
Not sure yet, it will depend on $$ if we go convertible again or just a less expensive crib, then down the line a full bedroom set.

We purchased a convertible crib for Nate. By the time #2 comes, he'll still be too young to move to a toddler bed IMO. We'll probably buy the baby it's own crib.
