so my daughter wants to be a cupcake for halloween...help!
She saw the costume in the pottery barn catalog and hasn't stopped talking about it.
The costume is about $60. I love the girl, but I am not spending $60 on a cupcake costume. I searched the web to find something less expensive and I can't seem to find much - making one is out of the question right now (I am too preggo). Any ideas where to look???

Try ebay. Many times people sell new costumes for good prices.

Re: so my daughter wants to be a cupcake for halloween...help!
i would make it! And im not THAT crafty but a few easy-ish ideas came to mind.. i would fold up a lightweight piece of cardboard or oaktag into the tin..and cover it with tin foil..and let her slip that on, and have her legs coming through..and then for the actual "cupcake" part, i would use some foam (color it brown for a chocolate cupcake) around her waist area, and then i would use alot of stuffing/cotton that is dyed..to get an "icing" effect..and i would do that all the way up past her shoulders to her head..and i would leave her head sticking out, paint it red and make her face the cherry on top

Would the cupcake fairy do ( $44.99)?

Or a cupcake fairy is really easy to make if you don't want to buy it

It might be easier than you think to make it... you could make the bottom out of oaktag and cover it with tin foil and then you could make the top of the cupcake with felt (they sell giants sheets in Michaels) and then glue on little pieces of different color felt in little rectangles for sprinkles. You could put her in cute striped leggings or tights and have her wear a red hat for a cherry :o)

Love the cupcake fairy costume, but it's about $45 for just the costume, the wings, wand, headpiece are all extra! Most places are on backorder too. The pics everyone suggested are great...You're creative Jenn, you can do it! (Not like you're too busy these day, right? lol)

No advice... just Oh and if you want, we have a size 3-4 pair of cupcakes tights if T wants to borrow them for her costume (last year's Gymboree)
