So nervous for 1st sonogram... Now w/ Update
I had a previous M/C and I found out by sonogram (I had a "blighted ovum" / no heartbeat at 9 weeks).
I am pregnant again and I am scheduled for my first sonogram next week. I am so petrified to look at that screen and see nothing staring back at me again.
Update: We went yesterday and everything looked good! The heartbeat was normal and I am measuring right on track.
The only bad thing was that she saw a fibroid on the U/S. I read online that they can contribute to miscarriage and of course now I am freaking a little.
I am praying for the best... I am 7 weeks now.

Good luck! If it helps, my friend told me her RE told her that a it is VERY rare for that to happen more than once. I had the same thing happen to me and went on to have a healthy baby soon after.

I had a miscarriage first time out as well and I remember going in at 6 weeks and being told that there was nothing visible.....I started spotting that same night and M/C two days later. When I got pregnant again I have to be honest and tell you I am worried before every single sono just trying to prepare myself for bad news. I can't help it, even now at freaking 38 weeks, I am scared during the sonograms. Try to relax and put it out of your mind. There are alot of us in the same boat.

i had the same thing happen to me. I was supposed to be hearing a heart beat instead they told me it was an empty sac. Any advice we give will not take away that worry. I took DH with me and before the sono started i asked the tech to tell us right away if everything was ok, because her being quiet and looking around scared me more. Im sure everything will be fine. DID you HCG double better this time? I know mine did and from there we knew we had a more of a chance. I will pray for you. Just try and stay calm till then that is the best thing you can do for yourself and the baby.

Don't worry too much about the fibroid, they usually don't present a problem and they simply get pushed up out of the way as the baby grows. I have one (about the size of a pea) and when I got pregnant at first I was able to see it on the earlier sonograms but after the baby got big enough it was impossible to even find it. I've had NO bleeding and NO complications so far (and I'm 29 weeks) so try to not worry about it..........you will probably be fine. Fibroids are common. Good luck and have a happy, healthy 9 months!!

Glad to hear about the good news! Try not to worry about the fibroid. During pregnancy, fibroids either grow or shrink. Many women have healthy pregnancies with fibroids. I had a myomectomy to remove 8 fibroids each the size of an orange. I was told that they did not remove all of them b/c the others were tiny. So I am sure I still have at least one now. You should try to eat organic foods esp. milk and meat products. Fibroids feed off of estrogen. HTH
ETA: Where is the fibroid located? Inside the Cavity? If so, remember, women have twins and triplets in the same wound.
