I buy my mom and MIL's grave blankets at the local nursery, not the florist near the cemetery.
I look for simple ones then decorate them myself, because I know my mom would hate all the tacky stuff and glitter on most of the blankets. MIL gets a little bit of Hanukah decorations (she was Jewish but loved Christmas and the decorations).
The most I ever spent was $75 for a blanket, and that was at Hicks. Last year I bought 3 blankets and paid $110 total.

YIKES!!! I honestly opened this thinking "How bad could it be?" and holy hell it's WORSE than I thought anyone could ever make flowers look!
I'm so sorry this happened, it's hard enough to grieve a parent and this just adds insult to injury. Shame on them.
If the shop has been around such a long time I'm almost thinking there's new management/ownership or something? It doesn't bode well for them staying in business to be honest.
If you have time you should definitely YELP a review of them, I have done that in cases of EXTREMELY bad/near fraudulent customer service as a warning to other potential patrons.
I hope they back off and just refund your brother's money, that is disgusting they would even challenge you on this.

I can't even believe how awful this is. My jaw actually dropped with the pics of their attempt at fixing it. Letters cut from a cardboard box? Really? They should really be ashamed. I'm sorry you had to deal with this

I agree. I would definitely report them to the Better Business Bureau, although, since they made good with a refund, I'm not sure how much they'd do.

Better Business Bureau has nothing to do with anything, they are pretty much a useless entity and you're better spent Yelping a bad review or contacting the Attorney General.

I am so sorry They should be a shame of themselves! I don't blame you for disputing the transaction!
I usually get the blankets through the cemetery themselves. A little more expensive but they are beautiful.

Hence the reason that anyone in any line of work really needs to learn to spell. The first photo that you showed has an absolutely atrocious arrangement. The fix does not bother me as much except for those letters. Don't florists buy pre-printed boards that say things like "our mother" or "beloved mother"? I am Jewish and we generally do not place flowers on graves but I would be very upset for someone who hoped for something tasteful and received that.

Yes! That's what we hoped for, pre-printed lettering. We used Bayport Flowerhouse for her funeral who did exquisite work, albeit expensive. They did custom lettering almost silk-screened onto a simple bow. It's not about the price, it's about ordering what you asked for and receiving the complete opposite. I told/showed my co-workers today.. they all nearly died and thought I was being punked, lol.
I'm sure they wanted us to return it, so they could reuse the greens in another botch-job.
