So proud of my daughter right now

She found this on a FB page out by her and she's telling someone off:

Megan:
My little puppy O.G. is in deperate need of a girlfriend... I'm looking for a small dog to breed him with. He is a poodle chihuahua mix, almost 4 years old. I'd like to find a female to have a litter with before he's too old. If you have any ideas or know someone that might, please let me know. You can call or text me at XXX-XXXX or message me on here. Thanks!

Michelle:
Why are you breeding him and what are you trying to breed him with?

Megan:
I'm breeding him because he is like my best friend, or like my kid, and I can't imagine what I'd do without him. That, and I want him to have some company. Ideally, I'd like to breed him with a chihuahua or a mix, but am very flexible. I just want to breed him before he gets too old.

Megan:
Do you have a little one you might be interested in breeding?

Brionna :
I have a female puppy for sale. Chihuahua/Dachshund. $250 negotiable.

Michelle:
No, I'm a vet tech.I was just wondering why you would want to breed mixes since there is already a huge over abundance of unwanted puppies. I'm sure he is a very sweet dog, but if you wanted a companion you can adopt/rescue an already born dog and not compound the problem. You'll only keep one, there'll likely be 4-6more that go unaccounted for. Not trying to be a party pooper or anything, but after years working for animal control, watching people breed their dogs and cats for no apparent reason gets old. Sorry!

People are idiots. True story.

Here is the latest:

Megan: Michelle find me one that that I can adopt / rescue, or one that wont cost me $150 to $350 and I'll take em. Also, what difference does it make if I want to breed "mixes" vs. purebread dogs, an over abundance is an over abundance regardless, am I right? Also, dogs as small as him have 3-4 pup litters, even if I didn't have homes for them come the day they arrive (which I do have numbers from several people that want his pups) I'd just keep them. I appreciate your input, but if you knew my dog, you'd understand why I wwant his off spring if I can make it work.

Michelle: If money is an issue, then you likely shouldn't be breeding them anyway as breeding is generally quite expensive. Breeding should be about improving a breed, not populations. And yes, an over abundance is an over abundance regardless of breed. Adding to it however is another story. I have personally performed Cesareans on small breed dogs because a puppy has gotten stuck in the birth canal, there are too many puppies in there and it was putting the mother at risk and so on. They can have 6 puppies, they can also have only one or two. And if affording a $300 dog is a problem, then spaying and neutering the offspring that you may end up keeping is clearly going to be an issue too. I am most definitely not trying to be rude or mean, but when my job day in and out is to euthanize litters of puppies and kittens that ended being without homes, I don't really have patience for those who continue to breed. They are cute and cuddly, until no one wants them and then people like me end up having to kill perfectly good pets. Please understand my view. I know you love your dog, everyone should love their pets that way, but breeding him just to have cute puppies isn't the most responsible way to show it. I hope you think about the long term effects of breeding, and make an informed decision.

I'm shocked the person had the nerve to come back at her. They obviously don't have a leg to stand on and are making themselves look more irresponsible by the sentence. Your daughter's response was perfect though! Good for her for sticking to her guns. Chat Icon
