Re: SO the pressure to have a baby has started from my family........
The opposite happened to us! We got preggo and it took awhile for my family to warm up to the idea.
Now, they are thrilled, but it kind of stung a little when my mom was like "I thought you were waiting and taking the pill"

Ahhh it took us 7 years to have a baby. I remember the comments all too well!!Hang in there, they can be really annoying. After you finally have a baby they ask you when you are having another.........

This is what I say to my family members who start that with me:
"Give me $300,000 to buy a home on Long Island, and I will be more than happy to start a family!"
Shuts them up every time!!!!!! i likey!!!!!!! that is a good thing to say. of course, they could always respond with "there is never a good time to start a family"

I dont get it from my side - they know better. DH's side isnt bad either. They both know we are trying and would tell them info if there was something to tell.
Though today my mother was marveling in how Kim Fields (Tootie from the Facts of Life) is pregnant to which I replied "At least someone is" and Mom felt bad. She doesnt want another grandchild for herself. She wants us to have one for ourselves.
omg tootie is pregnant? that is so funny that your mom pointed this out to you!

Take it from someone who got an unexpected surprise.
Things change when the baby comes. Enjoy the alone time now - there's plenty of time for a baby!! And when its time, it is the most wonderful thing.
But I certainly wouldn't have minded a year with just me and DH.
I could have written this myself!

Re: SO the pressure to have a baby has started from my family........
We just moved and it seems whenever we meet people with kids in our neighborhood and they ask "do you have children" and we say no - they say to us "don't rush." We aren't rushing per say - but we aren't taking precautions not to have kids. We've been together for 7+ years and lived together for almost 6...we've enjoyed our alone time. We're still newlyweds, but we're ready for a family. But we do get a ton of pressure from my family, more so than DH's. I'm the only married grandchild in the family and my grandmother wants a great grandchild - all her friends have a bunch. And I'm an only child - so it makes things even more intense. My mom is baby crazy. She wants a grandchild very badly. We shall see what happens.

They've retorted I don't need a home to start a family, so I state back "Well, then you don't need grandchildren that badly, then."
And if it's one of my brothers - if it's the married ones "Go get your wife pregnant first - you've been married longer. And you're getting old." and the one without a SO never even teases me cause he knows what people could say to him.

Every time we are over the IL's house my MIL always asks if we have an announcement or a surprise
"SURPRISE...We've been trying for 8 months!"
"SURPRISE...Your son was just at the dr's to get a SA!"
how's that for a surprise!!!
(Sorry I'm a little bitter)

That's my situation as well and I've been married a little over 2 yrs. I haven't heard anything from my side or DH's side.
I guess it's a good thing that they are not bugging us!

Re: SO the pressure to have a baby has started from my family........
I think that is very rude for people to do that. A few people would do that to us but not immediate family. We waited 5 years and were happy we did. We got to enjoy each other. It is hard after you have kids to do the things together you used to so I would tell everyone to wait. Kids are a blessing and joy but they are not babies forever, they grow up and I think alot of people forget that.

Welcome to the club. I have to try so hard not to be nasty to people who bother me over and over again. I have been hearing "You're next" ever since I got married. Now I say "You have been saying that for 2 years,Does it look like I am next? I don't think so. shut up already"

I don't know what is wrong with people. Most of them know how hard it is to have kids but still want you to rush into it!!

Re: SO the pressure to have a baby has started from my family........
I wouldn't say pressure, but my MIL will be more excited for our child then we will be I know she wants a grandchild very badly, but she also said she would never want to feel like she is pressuring us.
My mom (who has 4 granchildren) tells me weekly how she has a had a grandchild born every year for the last 4 years and 2007 is still open. I then ask her which one of my SIL's it will be then
And I think at work it's the worst. Today I see a co-worker I hadn't seen in a bit and she says "hi! How are you? Are you pregnant yet??" I have only been married since September!!!

We just moved down south and I swear EVERYONE asks if we have children and why not? It seems that people have a family a lot younger here, b/c when we tell people, no we just got married, they are like "so?" or they look confused... We'll see, I want to wait till after a certain someone's wedding Gotta be a sexy BM!
