So upset... Please explain FSH to me
I just wanna punch a wall I'm so frustrated and over this. I went in this morning for blood/sono and expressed how frustrating it is that for the past 3 IUI cycles I've had 4 follicles and now with this cycle I'm showing 5. So I asked abt the possibility of poor egg quality so the NP (whom I absolutely love) checked my past AMH and FSH levels and said that my AMH is beautiful but that my FSH fluctuates one month it was a 2, then next month an 8 and one month a 15. She said I am by no means in ovarian failure but this may be a slight factor in all this, this whole time i was told that my husbands borderline motility was the cause of our issues. Mind you I am only 28, oh btw my estrogen tends to be on the higher side. What does this all mean I was so taken back that at one point I wasn't even hearing what she was telling me. How come my doctors have always told me that my levels are normal both my RE and OBGYN? Will I never be able to have children? I'm going to start IVF in August and the NP reassured me that she believes that I will have great outcome with IVF and at one point she hugged me because she saw how upset I was getting and said that this no way means that I will never have kids and doesn't even look at that as a possibility but how can I not think the worst. Why was I never told of my levels being off? Someone please make sense of this for me I'm so confused and upset. Thanks.

FSH always fluctuates. That's why they test it every CD3. It may be different sometimes when checking CD2 or 4 (which I have done in the past based on my AF schedule and office scheduling)
The 15 is high, but not that high. The fact that it's usually low is good.
Having a good AMH is key.
You're ok. I know it's very frustrating and can get scary and quite overwhelming.
Take it 1 day at a time.
If all of you numbers are good, you are good.

I'm pretty sure your FSH level can fluctuate cycle to cycle. While 15 is on the high end I wouldn't be too concerned since you are producing multiple follicles for each IUI and your AMH is low. AMH relates to quantity while FSH relates to quality of eggs. Again, it can fluctuate each month and typically if you have a high FSH your estrogen level is going to be on the high side as well.
When I had my IVF cycle my FSH was 24 and AMH was .40, so you can def. get prego with your numbers and your age is on your side. Try not to stress (easier said) and good luck!!

I personally think analyzing your numbers all the time will drive you crazy. We we were going through fertility treatments, I never asked what any of my numbers were during a cycle. I let the drs be the drs and chose an RE that I trusted. If your OB and RE aren't worried, then you shouldn't be either.

Thank you ladies I feel better after reading all your responses. I also just started accupuncture yesterday so hopefully if there is any issue with my numbers this will help regulate me. Thanks.

My fSH was 19 one month and 8 the next. I have been doing acupuncture 2x week for a while now and he does specific points for fsh. I wouldn't get too caught up in the numbers though.
