So we are laying w/DS in his big boy bed until he falls asleep...

does anyone else do this? Its a bad habit, I know. He's been in his big boy bed for like 3 weeks now. I just can't handle him getting out of the bed 100x at night and not falling asleep until 10pm!!

I need advice

Gavin's been in his bed for almost 5 months and we stil lay on the floor with him till he falls asleep. My DH says that by Dec we are breaking that habbit. Its just so much easier to lay there for 10 minutes then to have him come out of bed 100x before he goes to sleep LOL

We did that too. My advice to you so you don't lay there all night is to tell him you have to go potty & you'll be right back. Come back a few minutes later the first night. The second night, make it 10 minutes. The third night check on him at 30 minutes.

My kids fell asleep thinking I was coming right back after that.

Now, we do a few minutes of a snuggle & I leave. Now, we try to keep to the rule of you're not allowed out of bed unless you have to use the bathroom.

I can't say whether its a bad habit or not, but I will say that my DS is 4 and my DH still has to do this with him ...The older they get apparently the harder it is to change their ways

We did this in the beginning with DD - she was 19 months when we transitioned her to her twin bed.

in the beginning we layed in the bed w/her - till she feel asleep.

After a few weeks or less - I couldn't do it anymore! We started inching our way out of the room day by day.

I started to sit up in her bed (I refused to lay down w/her) until she feel asleep. After a few days of doing that. I stood up at the foot of the bed giving her my back and waited till she feel alseep. I told her mommy wasn't leaving, I would wait in the room.

Eventually after a few days of that I worked my way to the door and would wait till she feel asleep - I would stand there. I never gave her eye contact - but the fact that she would see me comforted her to know I wasn't going to leave her.

Eventually she got into a routine and is fine jumping in her bed, laying down and falling alseep on her own. I will usually stay at the door for a few minutes having my back facing her and she will fall asleep almost immediately.

We've been doing that forever...but in our bed Thats a 1000x worst...bur he falls asleep immediately. Then I bring him in his crib. We're planning on switching to the big boy bed in a few months and will probably do the same
