We had no choice it was actually coming out of the groundChat Icon

Plus the guy said our system is so old that someone could fall through the ground into it.Chat Icon The whole thing was falling into itself, I would be too worried with my kids and my neighbors kids. We have no choice.Chat Icon

I'm so scared of cesspools - I'm glad ours is in the front yard so that the kids can play (mom worry free) in the back

I dread the day that we have to pump - I can see the dip where it is in the front yard and I just know we are going to have to replace it if we pump.

That is why sewers ROCK! LOL

Sorry you had to spend that kind of cash though. Better to do it now though - at least you know it's safe!

Same thing happened to us a few months after buying the house. After I was told I had a block cesspool, I google'd it to find out more. First article that came up was the Huntington man that drown in his own cesspool after a cave in. I kept everyone inside until the appointment.

Definitely sucks to be laying out that money but the peace of mind it's priceless.Chat Icon

Well we need two tanks, one regular and one overflow. I have had a few friends who got it done and they said this was pretty average.

OMG Stacey, we just pumped ours on Tuesday because it was starting to back up in the downstairs shower if we used too many water appliances at the same time (i.e., dishwasher, washing machine, shower, etc). We also have 2 older pools, original to the house (1962) Chat Icon

Dont forget I worked for an environmental company and did a lot of cesspool work and know a few good recommendations and what you should look for.

Now I pray ours doesn't go soon, although it just seems inevitable!

Re: So we go from getting our cesspool pumped...

We had to Rotor-Ruder (not the actual company) ours last week. We are lucky we know someone in the business. We will eventually have to have ours cleaned out too.

Re: So we go from getting our cesspool pumped...

the peace of mind is worth it. A friend's family had a sinkhole in the backyard after a heavy rain last summer from where an old cesspool had caved in.

Re: So we go from getting our cesspool pumped...

ugh, we had to do this a few years back too,( we were even charged for them to locate exactly where to dig for it Chat Icon)
and we may need it looked at again.. Chat Icon the toilet bowl water was bubbling the other day? what do you guys think? (trish? yoy said you might know info Chat Icon) Its a brand new toilet bowl, and it just bubbled a few times at random last week. we barely ever use this one since its downstairs and we're still doing work.

Stacey, just think of the piece of mind like Barb said, and one thing crossed off your list Chat Icon Chat Icon
