First of all, WOW! That is a tremendous undertaking. What type of school do you teach in? I'm assuming that it's not public.

Can you do magazine cut-outs of famous artists?

Or, have your students do autobiographies and relate it to music?

Can you paint on your walls? My school just did a huge mural in the music hallway.

Good luck!

What about lots and lots of pictures of your cutie pie? Chat Icon

no, sorry, that is just bc I saw your post about leaving your dd and she is too adorable....

That is a tough one. Most of our music room stuff is pre-made....
*Could you have the kids paint mural paper sized instruments?
*What about a larger than life line of music (no idea what that is really called).
*Maybe the kids could help re-do famous Broadway Playbill covers or posters?
*Maybe kids could create collages using music related words?
*Or find some music inspired quotes and throw them on banners?

Personally, Im still liking the Ava pics idea.

I actually make my own posters by copying ideas I see in catalogs. Then I laminate them. It's a bit cheaper.

Re: So, we're not allowed to use pre-made posters anymore...

what about giving all the kids a music note to color or decorate and then a few choices for their favorite song (not radio ones, but ones they will work with this year??) to make a graph on big paper - wait, are you in the elem. level???.....if not, it might be silly to do

Re: So, we're not allowed to use pre-made posters anymore...

also, can you print out pictures of famous composers and have the kids color them and put info about the person underneath?

how about colored in pics of instruments.....you could do the names and the pics seperate (in student writing and coloring too, if needed) and then string yarn or something from one to the other.....

ok, sorry to hijack with these...can you tell I am on overload of thinking what to put on my walls (although I am not a music teacher!)

You girls are AWESOME!Chat Icon I'm totally envisioning this:
A black "skyline" of musical instruments. Use that as the background, then fill it up with some colorful, handmade notes and some quotes from famous composers. I knew you girls could help meChat Icon
Then I want to make one bulletin board an "informational" board with some charts for my band, so that takes up one board, then the other one I'll have the kids make something. I like the idea of the biographies. Maybe I'll have them do a fictional autobiography as if they were a composer or something.

And to answer someone's question, I definitely don't work in public schoolChat Icon I actually like the idea of not having anything premade on the walls, it's just that my brain is still on vacation.

As for my "wall of Ava", it's already taking up one blank wall behind my deskChat Icon Chat Icon

Maybe you could get pictures from the internet or clip art of notes and other music related items and laminate them.
