So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
My hubby and I are homebodies. We used to get tons of finger foods (Shrimp cocktail, dim sum, sushi, bagel bits, cheese, crackers, grapes, etc) and our favorite wines or mixed drinks with those extra small bottles of champagne for 'the big moment'. EVERY YEAR just to the two of us and **** clark hahah
Then, we met a couple and really the guy is our friend. So we now hang out with him and his family every year. It's his parents, grandparents, older aunts, uncles etc at the grandparents house. We have a BBQ and toast with pink champagne (grandfather loves it) and honestly, we have a great time.
The first year, I brought chocolate covered strawberries from Bon Bons (a chocolatier in Huntington Village) and they were a huge hit. Now it's tradition.
I just ordered a pound of Dark, Milk, White chocolate strawberries and a half pound of dark chocolate covered pineapple. It costs us $48.88 ! but I think it's worth it.
My only concern is we normally drive back to Huntington Station. Last year, I was hit by a drunk driver which did $6K damage to my car, so I am little learie this year of driving back. Still I guess, I got to do what I got to do.
Soooooooo what are your plans? Any traditions.
Edited: I mean finger food not figure food hahaha

Re: So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
Probably just my dh and I again. We can't ever get a sitter so we buy tons of junk food and drinks and eat and drink together. My dh has to work NYE so hopefully he won't be too tired to stay up! One year he fell asleep. I woke him up to kiss him and then he went back to bed 5 minutes later!!!

Staying home. Probably making filets and crab legs and playing to new trivia game I got for the Wii. DH wants to invite another couple over but I'm kind of over having company. I just want a quiet night at home.

We're going to New Jersey to our friends' house. We love them and they throw a great party. We're spending the night there and then on New Year's Day we'll have an amazing breakfast. It's become somewhat of a tradition.

Re: So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
We like to stay home.... But I just found out that he made plans without asking me. I was a bit shocked that he did that.
But they are a really nice fun couple. So, I think we will have a good time>
I would have rather been in my PJ's and snuggled up to my husband. But looks like we are going out!
I wonder if I can still wear my PJ's over their house?

Re: So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
we're homebodies too.... we're also well known foodies / entertainers. (as true homebodies, we make everyone come to our place )
so, over the last several years, we've had a new years party over here. It averages 6-10 people.... this year, it's only 6. we make baked brie with raspberry preserves, lots of dips and finger foods, and desserts. the 'tradition' at these parties is for us to come up with more and more outrageous and unexpected dishes...
I think this years finger foods will be 'Sher-mosas' (my take on samosas... we love indian food!). I may also serve some tibs wat (ethiopean beef curry), along with a couple ethiopean veggie dishes and injera.... even though we already went food shopping, the menu is still up in the air

Re: So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
It will be just DH and me. We are going to have a nice dinner and then light a fire and have some champagne. Nothing crazy this year and we like it.

Re: So, what are you doing for New Years Eve?
We are just hanging in. A couple of friends said they are going to stop by and DH and I will bring in snacks. Everytime I have dropped money for New Years I have gotten sick. Last year was a miserable cold, the year before was the flu. I have learned that this time of year is not a good time for me to make plans in advance.
Please be careful. The drunk drivers are crazy this time of year, which is one of the reasons we chose to not do much unless there is a place to sleep. So if you are going out, please be careful!

We are going to a party at a catering hall. It is a family tradition, so it is something we do every year. I'm really looking forward to it.

we're going out to dinner with family and then going to FBIL's apartment to watch the ball drop and eat more food. we would prefer to stay home and celebrate with just the 2 of us.
