I believe you wouldn't really be able to breathe w/o it hurting VERY much.
What happened? And will this affect you coming to my house to clean out my closet??

 it's already halted my cleaning of my closets!
I banged into the door when carrying a container for my summer clothes. I hit my back and it hurt a bit. Later when I was folding clothes I felt a spasm and had to stop. It hurts when I take a deep breath and if I lie on it. Not exruciating but painful.
I hope I just bruised something or pulled a muscle. If I put pressure right along my bra strap in the back it hurts.
I just took two advil. I have stuff to do..this blows!

Damn... So I guess this means I'll have to reschedule for sometime, say, next week??
In all seriousness though, it sounds like you may have brused it. Keep an eye on it and if you can, ice it tonight. If it doesn't get better I would get an x-ray just to be safe.

yup...fell down a flight if stairs in a drunken stuper...got up and laughed it up... until the next morning of course.

oh gosh..i bruised a rib when i had bronchitis.... and i was crying all the time because it hurt to BREATHE!

My mom is suffering with 2 broken ribs right now. My brother was playing around with her, bear hugged her from behind, I guess a little too hard. He gave her hair line fractures in 2 ribs. She is in SO MUCH PAIN! She cant take a breath, cannot cough, cannot sneeze...I feel so sorry for her. The doc gave her percocet but she only takes it before going to sleep because it makes her so tired. Its gotten worse to be honest because she hasnt rested with the holidays and all. They do nothing for broken ribs..its a lot of pain. I hope yours isnt broken!!!

she should have a bone density scan to check for Osteoporosis. This should not happen from a bear hug unless her bones are brittle.

I broke my rib coughing when i had bronchitis as well. I remember it hurt alot when i would breath in and i really couldn't stand up straight and was always holding my side. I remember also not even being able to get up on the table for the doctor to examine me. Feel better, it takes awhile to heal.

I am glad someone asked this because I have been suffering as well. I had a really bad cold that lasted a few weeks. I dread when a sneeze comes on and when I cough it gets worse. I can't sleep because I toss and turn when I sleep and I can't even touch that side. I have been suffering for the past month and can only hope that it will go away. My dh thinks I am nuts and doesn't think it could be broken or fractured. Thanks for making me feel like I am right.

it's not broken. I feel way better today although I am not lifting anything heavy and not over-doing it just to be safe.
It felt better about 4 hours afterwards last night. Must have been when I was purchasing Rock Band..
