OMG! I almost did that once. Now I'm a paranoid freak checking multiple times that the keys are in my hand before I shut the door.

Oh, I'm on my second glass! Trust me! I'm usually obsessive about making sure my keys are in my pocket and not in the diaper bag, and even beyond that, I am obsessed with making sure the locks didn't close by accident when I was putting Ava in the car seat. However, tonight, I went to Target and as I was putting Ava in the car and taking the bags out of the cart, a Target employee came over and asked if I would like him to take my cart, so I said sure, and got distracted. Next thing I know, I absent-mindedly slammed the door, and bam, I was locked out. THANK GOD I had my cell phone in my pocket. The police were awesome and got there quickly and got the car unlocked in a matter of 2 minutes, but man, I feel awful

Aww, don't feel awful. I get easily distracted like that too! I used to be so focused and ever since I had DD, I feel so fuzzy, easily confused, etc. Honest mistake, don't feel bad. Great response from the police BTW!

DH did that with one of his daughters, and she didn't become a crack head or anything, in case that makes you feel better - although, she did cut a lot of classes lately - could be one of those delayed reactions....

I did the same exact thing too! Better in the winter than in the summer when it's hot out.
I needed a drink after I did it also. Now I'm a paranoid freak about making sure my keys are in my pocket and am always nervous that my doors will lock themselves!

That was me last week--lol I went to put Julia in the car and I threw my keys on the front seat and must of hit the lock button on my keys, and then shut Julia's car door, then went to get into my side and saw I was locked out! ThankGod my DH was on his way home and came with the extra set of keys!

Happens all the time, doesn't make you a bad mommy
I have one of those lanyard thingy's and I put my keys on that. I hang it around my neck so I can keep it in sight and close by while I'm loading the kids in the car.

Re: So, what's new ladies? Anyone lock their baby in the car tonight with the keys?
I have locked my keys in the car more times than I'd care to remember.....luckily for my DS, my car won't lock with the key inside. Smart Car!!!!
Enjoy your glass of wine, and you're not a bad mommy.

Re: So, what's new ladies? Anyone lock their baby in the car tonight with the keys?
I KNOW I am going to do this one day - she already fell off the dining room table, off her changing table, and has been in the car a few times without her carseat being strapped closed....so locking her in will be next I am sure!
Adventures in motherhood....she's safe now, that's all that matters!

Re: So, what's new ladies? Anyone lock their baby in the car tonight with the keys?
I did it too! (not tonight though)
I agree - the police were great, but I happened to be on the border of two towns and the wrong precinct came first and wouldn't do anything until the other one got there!
