So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
haha, i know, funny subject, but I just saw 3 different girls i know on FB give birth and the photos they posted in their hospital bed with newborn showed their hair in just-washed blown-out condition.
How is that possible? haha. They were able to stand up and shower and dry their hair properly?? I picture myself looking like a mess!

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
Lol. After I had my youngest DD (had a csection and was hooked to a IV and catheter the day of and after) , but on day 3 I showered, wash, blow dried and flat iron my hair.
I did brush my hair in a ponytail while I was in recovery room but can't imagine washing it the day I delivered.

So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
LOL - when I had my daughter, my water broke in the morning but contractions hadn't started. I called the dr. and she said to head over to the hospital when I was ready. I asked if I had to rush, or did I have time to shower and wash/blow dry my hair. She said sure. DH even went and got a hair cut!

Okay so exactly my question. Wouldn't your hair be all sweaty by the time you were taking a picture with your baby? I know this is not remotely important, but I'm just so curious! hahaha

Okay cool so maybe a few days later it's a possibility then

So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
What I looked like and what my hair looked like was the last thing on my mind. I kept it in a pony the whole time. I wasn't even out of the delivery room yet and my mom was trying to fix my hair and put makeup on me. This was about 2 hours after I had finally given birth after a 65 hour induction. I did not give a single shit. I wanted to hold my baby and eat something. My hair and makeup was on the very bottom of my priorities.
To each their own I guess.

Right! That's why I was curious how people can get their hair so nice. Maybe for 2nd babies (depending on situation) delivery could be a little easier so they are up and at 'em sooner.

Any visitors I had were not there to see me lol. They wanted to see the baby. no one was taking pics of me, only the baby. I have to say that I love the pics i do have of me and DD at the hospital even with my sweaty hair up. It's more real lol IMO.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
That's funny. I guess they're preparing for their baby's FB debut.
I was being induced so I had scrunched my hair beforehand, that way it's already curly and won't look so horrible after a day of sweaty grossness. lol. All pictures of me with DD, I did have makeup on, but hair was just in a curly ponytail. I'm sure I'd do the same with #2. I mean, I don't want to look a fright since they ARE special pictures (your first hours/days with baby) but at the same time I was in no mood to jump in the shower and start blow drying and straightening and looking pretty.

I looked terrible after a 3 day failed induction/c-section but God willing for my next child I plan to schedule my c-section so I imagine my hair will probably be in good shape haha so possibly the case in the photos you saw?

I see your point but for me my hair began shedding almost immediately so I was in desperate need of a deep conditioner.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
I know my friends who had scheduled c-sections look good in the pics bc they had blowouts the day before. But having 3 natural births, there was nothing nice about my pics lol and I imagine the same for baby #4. My labors are actually pretty fast like 4-5 hours, but I still looks like a sweaty, and swollen mess lol.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
I had DS on a Thursday evening (vaginal delivery following a successful induction). I was able to shower on Friday morning - - and while I blew my hair out quickly and put on minimal makeup, I was hardly "done up". I did just enough to feel clean and put together.
This time around, I'll try for the same thing….particularly because I'm delivering where I work - - so I know to expect some work friends to drop by to see me…..including my boss. Since they're accustomed to seeing me in a suit and heels, I don't want to totally scare them.
With DS1 - my "immediately following delivery" pictures are terrifying. Hair in a ponytail, mascara down my face from crying and sooooo much swelling it barely looks like me.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
When I arrived at the hospital - having been in labor with DD for about 8 hours - my hair was the last thing on my mind. I could barely talk through the contractions and had to stand up and bend over to get through them. In the waiting room, there were 2 other girls - both with full hair and makeup wearing dresses. They were both there for scheduled c-sections.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
Ha! Hats off to those ladies. My first 2 days pp I was so sick my skin was actually green. My hair was pulled back in what some would call a big hot mess! I call it a poor attempt at a ponytail.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
I forgot to pack a hairbrush and DH kept forgetting to bring me one. I had knots for days! Plus all that laying on your back on an incline just rolls your hair even more into knots!

The hospital where I delivered DS had hair stylists with whom you could make an appointment. Yep, they'd come to your room and do your hair.

Ditto! I was frizzy and swollen... Not pretty. More power to the pretty ones. I'm not one of them!

My SIL looked beautiful after her natural delivery! But she's just a naturally beautiful girl.. She had no makeup on either. I told her she's making it very difficult for me lol

I showered, straightened my hair and put on makeup before going to the hospital. I had a vaginal delivery but didn't really get sweaty and my hair still looked good lol. The next day I showered at the hospital but just threw my wet hair up in a bun. I was in no mood to dry or straighten my hair in a hospital bathroom.

So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
With my son I was at work that morning so my hair was already straight and I had some makeup on. I delivered that night and def didn't look great in pics after going through labor and pushing for over two hours! Lol. Since I'm a teacher and I'm home now for the summer I plan on showering before I go to the hospital but I'll prob just throw gel in it and let it be curly and I prob won't put any makeup on! Lol

When they took the baby for a morning check, bath & some testing... I took a shower & did my hair. Was more time & quiet than I get at home w a young kid.

Re: So what's the story with nice hair in hospital?
I had my DS at 5:30 pm and by 8:00 am I was showered with my make up and hair done. It's definitely possible. I brought a hair dryer and straightener with me.
Eta: after delivery, I looked pretty put together, but I had just come from work and had a fast delivery.
