Social Workers who work in a public school
I want to know of any social workers who work in a public school (city/long island) of how long it took them to get a job in a school.. I have been looking for awhile but have not received any phone calls for an interview. I know it is like winning the lottery to even get the first interview but i want to know how long i should hold out for before choosing some other career path.. i have worked in other social work settings other than school programs but i only want to work in a school. any advice/suggestions from other social workers.

Re: Social Workers who work in a public school
My BFF is a social worker in a middle school. It took her a long time to get the job - at first she was working there and being paid by the Boys and Girls Club, and finally the district took the position over.
She's in about her fifth year now, and totally burned out. I think it depends on the district (hers is a tough place) but it can be a very draining job.
Good luck!
