I went to the gastro doc b/c every time I went to the bathroom, (you know, #2 to put it in parenting terms, lol)..there was blood and i felt like broken glass was coming out. I would literally shake and almost cry while going.

Sooooo turns out i have 4 internal hemorrhoids, 2 external and a fissure...thats right...a deep tear in my colon which is causing the pain.

I love my son. More than life. But good lord....this is worse than any recovery from labor!!! Now i am on a diet of benefiber, 2 colace a day and tons of fruits and veggies.

I am soo sorry I can honestly say i can FEEL your PAIN!!

DD did a number on me pushing as well.

I had hemorrohoids and fissures as well. And just when my fissures were not painful, i got pg again and they came back with vengeance!

I am a pro at this.

For the hems, do the sitz baths, BUT DON"T USE PREP H< it aggravates the FISSURES!! It's like putting salt on an open wound.

I used diaper rash creme, yes any diaper rash creme you want, I use butt paste since it has the highest zinc oxide.

Be careful with fiber intake, too much can lead to bulky stools, which hurt even more. I take benefiber twice a day and stool softners twice a day. once in the am and once in the pm.

Beans are your friend!

Gotta keep your stools soft, go WHEN you FEEL THE URGE, DOn't hold it!
I used my breathing techniques when i go, it helps not to clench, clenching make the anal spasm worse.

USE moist wipes for adults to wipes, NO TP!!

ALSO load up your coolie, inside and outside with vaseline before you go, it helps.

I have lots of tips, feel free to FM me with any questions, I totally don't mind!

when the h"s healed, i used neosporin, i figured, it's good for cuts on my skin, why not on my butt, within 1 week of everything above and applying the neosporin 3 times a day, i was pain free, not cured, but not pooping razor blades was a plus!

I had a fissure and it was sheer agony for months. I wanted to go through drug free labor again before I wanted to poop. I'm so sorry.

Feel better!

After I gave birth, I ended up with a blocked kidney and an infection, ended up in the hospital for a week, and it was all worth it! HAng in there!

I had one of these also and it was murder! I had it before I was pregnant, during pregnanc and after pregnancy! It was so bad that I held my poo's in and that made it so much worse!!! I had hemmaroids also and I had one banded (which is the most barbaric surgery EVER) when I was 5 months pregnant and it was a nightmare!

So what I suggest is getting some flax meal and eating lots of it everyday. I totally believe that helped me to get rid of it.

It was so bad that I would go out with my husband and I would have to go sit in the car! they are just awful! I hope you feel better soon!!! The surgery is not something that you want to have...apparently there is a 2% chance of anal leakage afterwards...no thank you! Just eat lots of fiber, drink lots of water, don't push too hard! Feel beter soon!!

I feel so bad for you.

I had a very very deep fissure. For almost 3 years I had intense pain that had me on disability from work even....

After missing so much work and literally passing out in pain trying to "go" ....I had to have surgery to remove it.

It wa sthe best thing I ever did in my life..but mine was very very bad. I would be on bed rest for an entire day or two after going b/c the pain was so bad.

I Also say Sitz baths! They work...

And I LIVED on stool softners. Take them every day.

If it gets really bad see a colon and rectal surgeon.

The surgery was not major for me and I was so glad to get it done before I got PG , I didnt think I would live through the labor and constipation.

Also If you want, there is some greta online support groups with tips and tricks of what does and doesnt work. Try google.

My surgeon ( before surgery) gave me a nitrogylcerin cream...it does give you headaches, but it was a lifesaver...Ask for it. Many dr's say it helps almost 50-60%

Sweetness had great tips! I also used diaper rash cream and I had to STAY awake from fiber. Fiber bulked me up , made it "larger" and was making it so much worse.

Also I tried some numbing cream...the Dr gave me an RX for. That helped as well.

And I have used TP in ages....I use flushable wipes....

My mom has had fissures for years but because of other medical problems can't have surgery. I know that they are very painful and I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope you heal quickly with everyone's tips so that you can not only enjoy your son but feel better also!

If anyone needs a colon surgeon I have a recommendation. Victor Gallo in Garden City is the BEST. He saved my Dad's life about 5 yrs ago.
