Sod starting to turn brown after 2 days
We got pieces of sod for the sidewalk area since it was disgusting. They weren't the best pieces as they had a little brown in it when DH purchased it, but as of yesterday (DH put it in on Friday) it was more brown than green. What did you do the first few days after having sod put down?
DH has been watering it with the hose day and evening and the sprinklers also go on twice a day. The second cycle turns on at 4pm. Should I have it turn on later?
We have been doing the Scott's Step 4 program and DH put down some of the Step 3 on the sod yesterday.

It does need lots of water. It shounds like you are giving it maybe 2 much watering 4 times a day might be to much water. I would have held off on put the scotts on the sod until it was more established

When we sodded after pool installation, our irrigation guy set it to water 2x a day for two weeks then regular schedule.

Since you just put it down you may need to water it a lot more water. We did our whole yard in sod and water it 2x a day. We noticed a lot of brown patches and our neighbor told us its Grubs. Its the bugs eating the roots of the grass. Sure enough he lifted the dry patches and saw the rolly polly bugs. You may need grub removal and prevention.

I think you are watering the sod too much. It has been raining and you are over watering it which can kill the lawn. It only needs watering in the morning and never after five pm to allow the morning dew to get at it too.

Update on the sod: It turns out it's doing better now. It's much greener and getting thicker. Not sure what worked but it did. We did reduce the time on the sprinkler cycles so not sure if that helped or what but I"m happy that our grass is one of the best lawns on our block. Now if only someone could stop having their dog shit on it that would be great!
